PMS missing again!

Hello All,
Please can anyone help, this is really getting on my t!ts now…

Plex/PMS was working perfectly on my NVShield, for some unknown reason it suddenly would play, apparently media not available.

I rebooted everything, Router with HDD attached, NVShield, still not working, I check in settings to find PMS missing as shown in photo below.

This has happened before, and clear cache of PMS then reboot solves it, but this time it just won’t work.

(The HDD connected to router is reachable on network, I can view content via PC, and I could also access the Internal User Accessible storage on NVShield from PC.)

I then uninstalled Plex/PMS and reinstalled both apps fresh, set it up and it seemed OK.

However, when I then restored the back-up (with server Stopped) and rebooted NVShield, the PMS was missing again!

Can anyone please advise what is wrong with this?

Thanks, Andrew.

Try the Set/Remove a/the PIN Fix. Should work!

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I am fuming about this! I wasted several days faffing around, reinstalling, factory resetting and so on. I literally tried everything, several time over, All without success.

I found many other recent reports on this forum of other with the same issue.

Following your advice on a reply to another user, I replaced the PMS App with an older version from APKMirror (version 1.40.4.8679) - Lo and Behold it works properly!

I simply can’t believe an update to the PMS App for the NVShield was deployed when it clearly hadn’t been tested.

I have disabled Auto-Update now. I’m quite disappointed to have wasted my time and energy to get this working again, when all along it was the actual app that was the issue!

You should check your database files to be sure they are backing up every 3 days. The failure to load a new server version is only a symptom of corrupt database files.

Hi, thanks for your reply. They are indeed backed up regularly.
Even when I totally delete cache/app data and uninstalled Plex and PMS Apps and started afresh, even before I could restore my DB, the PMS Icons (Running/Stopped/Location) were missing.

I did factory reset of the NVShield, and soon after they were missing again.

Only when I completed removed the latest auto-updated PMS app and installed an older version did it finally work properly.

FFS… After wiping the lot, factory reset of NvShield then several days to build the Plex Library again from scratch (artwork, dates, descriptions etc).

It was working just fine for a week or so, then the same pain in the hole nonsense started again!

In Settings, the PMS Server icons (Running/Stopped) and Internal User Acc Storage icons are missing, but despite rebooting, clearing cache for Plex app and PMS app, it just won’t come back.

What is the problem!? It never did this until a few months ago, I have wasted so much time farting around to get this just working again, then the utter inconvenience of wiping the lot and rebuilding from scratch, only for the same issue to reoccur.

I specifically bought the NvShield (x2) because it had amazing reviews and it could run PMS on it natively. I am sad to say it was once amazing, but now it’s just a load of šajt!

I’ve called Nvidia support again, they can’t do much as it’s clearly the Plex/PMS apps that seem to be the issue, but apart from me moaning on this forum about the same issue, and seeing all other users with NvShield having same issue, is there any chance someone in a position to do something about it able to get this fixed please?

I keep getting mithered to buy Plex Pass for some discounted price, I did consider it, but decided against for now as it seems there is almost zero support when it comes to this ongoing absolute c*nt of a problem.

I am absolutely beyond fed up with it already. I am now thinking about building separate mini PC, or perhaps flashing the NvShield with older version of the Android image, as I didn’t ever have such trouble and messing about before, can anyone advise if that would work please?

And if there is any chance to have the actual issue investigated and fixed, that would be wonderful, but I won’t hold my breath. :o(

Set and remove the pin, restart and set and remove the pin again work for other people.

Or do a Database Backup and try a Recovery.

goto downloadpage and use the NVIDIA SHIELD ANDROID TV 2019 Pro Recovery OS Image, it will restore 9.0.0.
