PMS not finding new folder in Movie Library

Server Version#: 4.47.1
Player Version#: na
I updated my server today, moved a new movie folder into my movie library folder. Then I manually scanned the library. It did not find the new movie. I tried a search for it just in case it was moved into the wrong folder, but no. It’s in the right actual folder but not in PLEX.

I did a log out/in. Then restarted the server computer itself. It still wont find the new movie.

Help.

Would need to look at the logs to see if it can see the file and is ignoring it for some reason or if it can see the file at all. If the file has number in it like a tv show file does it might ignore it for that reason.

It might have also got mismatch to something else. If nothing new in library recently added see if anything all of sudden as a duplicate (You can filter on duplicates which will have a blue #2 on the poster)

There’s nothing showing in recently added so I’ll double check for duplicates. Just in case, how do I find logs for you?

In the troubleshooting section of server setting there is a button to get the logs

It tells me the server settings are unavailable.

The server name has a green lock circle next to it. In the drop down it says “Near By”.

What do I need to do to make the server reachable again?

Interesting note, for fun I selected ‘folder’ instead of ‘movies’ and the folder appears there. I opened the folder and it said ‘their are no items in this folder’. I checked the actual folder and it is not empty. The main movie is there along with a trailer and behindthescenes folders.

Another interesting side note - I just tried to play a tv show on the computer where the PMS is hosted and it won’t play. It just shows the buffering circle with no %.

And I just added episodes to an existing tv series, scanned the library and it too found nothing new.

The green circle just means secure connections is enabled. “Near By” means it is on the local network.

have you tried restarting the server app or rebooting the computer the server is installed on?

to manually get logs you can open up a file explorer window and copy/paste in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Logs to go directly too the logs folder

I have rebooted (usually it fixes everything) Let me try manually.

Are there any in particular you’d like. It looks like there are over 60 files there.

These are the ones with today’s date on them. At least 2 failed to upload.

Okay I really need help here. With my server not playing even on the web based interface I have no way of watching any of my Plex content (I already had an UNANSWERED post regarding non playback on Roku, Amazon fires and Android). Please have someone get back to me as soon as possible because my recommendation rating is beginning to go down as a result of these issues.

sorry not sure why i did not get notification of last reply. You seem to have verbose logging enabled which is making the logs hard to go through. Can you still not get to server settings?

The Plex Media Server.log ( without a number) would be the newest one that I don’t see a link for.

In the Plex Media Scanner.3.log I see it having issues connecting to server but not sure why yet

Are you familiar how to edit registry settings? Really need to turn off verbose logging. in registry the variable is LogVerbose and needs to be set to 0 to not log verbose. then restart server and get logs again. The Plex Media Sever.log and the Plex Media Scanner.log should be enough.

the cause of why I see some http errors in scanner log is probably the cause of the multiple issues you are having.

I don’t know how to edit the registry settings, but am willing to learn.

I still can’t get into the settings.

I will be able to check when dinner is over. :yum:
Thanks for quickly responding this evening.

This is info on how to use Regedit to edit the registry. https://www.wikihow.com/Use-Regedit how to find the plex specific settings are in link in my previous post…

OK i was told an easier way to turn off verbose. download this file. change the extension from .txt to .reg the double click file. Restart server then get the server and scanner logs again.

plex.txt (258 Bytes)

BTW if you are using Firefox can you try using Edge or Chrome to see if you can get to settings

I did the plex.txt to .reg change, robooted and restarted in Chrome. Still says server unavailable. Below are the logs you requested.

Thanks. You have some weird network errors in log. One is usually related to DNS issues. Trying to figure out the cause

How’s it going?

Honestly I’m starting to think you should reinstall ( do not delete PMS appdata folder if you do)

Do you have a firewall or something blocking ports. There are errors like this which are confusing

Nov 19, 2020 18:43:39.487 [14524] WARN - [Transcode] HTTP error requesting GET http://127.0.0.1:49929/system/agents/media/get?guid=com%2Eplexapp%2Eagents%2Ethetvdb%3A%2F%2F79285%2F9%3Flang%3Den&mediaType=3&url=metadata%3A%2F%2Fseasons%2F9%2Fposters%2Fcom%2Eplexapp%2Eagents%2Ethetvdb_0aafe64ba9e2dc7293ab9778429d3e4527247c4c (7, Couldn't connect to server) (Failed to connect to 127.0.0.1 port 49929: Address not available)`

Okay, it’s been reinstalled and the computer restarted. the firewalls have been checked and Plex is allowed through all of them. The issue continues.

Anyone have any ideas what to do now?

So I tried to repair it then uninstalled an reinstalled the media server again today. It’s still not working. Here are the current logs:
