PMS on QNAP - 401 Unauthorized after NAS power outage

  1. Use this package, written by Dane22 (a moderator), to grain access to the Plex “Preferences.xml” file

  1. Install the QNAP text editor (App Center)

  2. Stop Plex

  3. Open File Station, navigate into the PlexLibShare and find “Preferences.xml”

  4. Right Click and Open the file in the Text Editor.

  5. I want you to remove the entries for:
    a. PlexOnlineUsername
    b. PlexOnlineEmail
    c. PlexOnlineToken
    d. Save the file

  6. Open a browser to https://app.plex.tv

  7. Settings - Authorized Devices - Servers (dropdown)

  8. Remove the QNAP server entry.

  9. Sign Out (upper right corner - your avatar)

  10. Start Plex

  11. Open an incognito browser window

  12. open http://ip.addr.of.qnap:32400/web

  13. Be greeted by the Got-It and Sign On

  14. It will find the server sitting there and wanting to be claimed or setup.

  15. If it wants to setup – skip through everything and get to the dashboard

  16. Whenever it wants to be claimed - claim it.
