PMS running on QNAP device disappeared

Server Version#: 1.20.2.3323 (I think)
Player Version#: n/a

PMS has been running perfectly on my QNAP device for a long time. Recently, I went to change the password on my Plex account.

When I entered the new password, there was a box that said something like “sign out all connected devices”. When I clicked that and saved it, I could no longer stream from my PMS and even when I open up a web browser to access the Plex server running on my QNAP, I get a message about “No soup for you, can’t connect to Plex server”.

I tried installing an older version of the server and my server isn’t showing up.

I’m having the same issue, I am running 2 QNAP servers and one of them keeps disappearing (no soup for you) I stop pms and restart it again and the NAS reappears after two to three refreshes of the page. This is annoying as I have been a Plex pass customer for about 10 years and pms has run faultlessly up until recently. I also had the Plex share problem which I fixed but this has not helped with the continuous disappearance of one of my servers in pms!

Mike,
The Plex share will make it possible to get the log files through FileStation (its purpose).

Would you please make a ZIP of that Logs directory and attach it here so I may look?

I have the same issue. I removed and reinstalled PMS. The installation appears to complete normally, but the setup wizard does not show up, and there is no server to connect to: I get stuck at exactly the same screen. I get “no soup” or “ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED”, no matter whether I go through plex.tv or use MY_IP:32400. Since I’m a paying member, I sincerely hope that this issue will be addressed soon.

Uninstalling PMS on QNAP means you’ll also have to go to Plex.tv -> Authorized Devices -> Server and remove the qnap as well there then log out and start setup as fresh. (that’s how QNAP is mandating it)

Continuing the discussion from PMS running on QNAP device disappeared:

Thanks for the hint, ChuckPa - but there is no there there: the devices there are just browsers and apps. No server there. BTW: I have never seen any server in that section at all. Just browsers and apps. Is there something else I can delete;-)?

I am quite at a loss, there seem to be no tips that work for me…

@pjau

Do you have a version above PMS 1.19.5 installed?

If you do,

  1. Control Panel - Shared Folders
  2. Look for a share named “PlexData”
  3. If you don’t have one, Create one anywhere you like. It will be the gateway to your QNAP PMS installation. I’ll never actually hold any data.
  4. If you do have one, Edit the user permissions so that your QNAP username (or admin) have R/W permission to use it . This is how it shows up in FileStation
  5. When finished, Restart PMS
  6. Now open FileStation
  7. Click PlexData - Plex Media Server
  8. Right-click “Logs” and compress that to a ZIP file
  9. Download the ZIP and attach it here.

I will look and see what’s happening.

Hi ChuckPa,

Thanks for following up. It’s very much appreciated.

I attached the logs as requested, but I had to (re)install PMS first. So what I did was:

1 (Re)Create PlexData

2 Re-install PMS.

3 Stop PMS

4 Start PMS

5 Zip the logs.

I hope that was the correct order of things.

Thanks in advance for looking at this.

Kind regards, pjauLogs.zip (97.0 KB)

@pjau

You misread. At no point did I instruct to REinstall PMS

There are no logs there beyond the basics.

Do you still have the same server or did it install completely fresh?

You probably should go to Settiings - Authorized Devices - SERVER (dropdown) and remove the old servers listed.

I had to reinstall, because it was, at that point, not installed at all. It was completely uninstalled, in sofar as I knew how to (sign out everywhere, then remove.
And again: there are no servers among the authorized devices - just browsers.

Fair enough.
Plex.tv agrees. There are no servers there. It normally keeps deleted ones for 48 hours.

Let’s unwind this to the basics and build up from there.

What is the IP address of the QNAP and what is the IP address of your computer.?

The QNAP running PMS = 192.168.1.3
My laptop currently = 192.168.1.121

Hi ChuckPa,
I was getting my hopes up for some help getting my PMS up and running again. Should I start despairing instead?
