Qnap 453B - No longer able to use PMS

Server Version#:PlexMediaServer_1.14.0.5468-5a0183d2c_x86_64
Player Version#:Latest (not getting that far)

So all was working fine. Decided to do an update and downloaded the qpkg.

Updated, PMS not showing up.

Re-installed, still not good.

Following some trouble shooting around removed prefs files from
/share/CACHDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PMS

In the end, went with removing it and going back to the one from the QMS app store.

Still no joy.

Went back to latest version from PLEX

Installed OK, but

Server settings are unavailable.
Plex says server available to be claimed but then logs me back in.

Tried the previous couple of qpkgs, I’ve used, no joy.

Trying to sign in to plex and claim it that way gives me a

Help?

What previous version of PMS do you have on hand?

whichever lower version is it (within reason), Install it on top of the existing.

QTS manual install always uses CACHEDEV1_DATA so you are good.

Be advised, under .qpkg the name is PlexMediaServer not PMS verbatim.

The best next action is:

  1. Stop PMS
  2. Install PMSLibShare if you don’t have it
See Dane22 post below for link
  3. Open it in File Station and dril into the Plex share
  4. In it, under Library, you will see Preferences.xml
  5. Rename it to Preferences.xml.old or delete it (your choice)
  6. Restart PMS
  7. Open an in-cognito window to your QNAP
  8. Begin the setup again EXCEPT do not create library sections… They already exist.
  9. Skip through to the Dashboard (Finish)
  10. report progress please

Ok Step one done.

  • Install PMSLibShare if you don’t have it
    Mod: Link removed
  • Open it in File Station and dril into the Plex share

What does PMSlibshare do please.
how do I open it in file station?

I install via the app centre local in install and it installs but doesn’t appear to open.

PS went with

PlexMediaServer_1.11.0.4633-70f9c31ed_x86_64

I also have
PlexMediaServer_1.13.6.5339-115f087d6_x86_64

PMSLibShare: Create a share for Plex Library Directory

And please use the link from that post!

Dane22 is the author of PMSLibShare.
I have the qpkg handy on my google drive as well. (we use it that frequently)

Ok Qnap updated the PMS to 1.13.5.291

PMSLibShare: Create a share for Plex Library Directory

And please use the link from that post!

This is done. However I still see no share in File Manager?

Should show up as a share named Plex ?

And are you logged on as admin?

Not on file manager, in qnap cloud is does, but says is empty and I get an error
The destination file or folder does not exist on the device. 1129104

and yes, logged on as admin

Strange, and never seen that before.
If possible, try and reboot your QNAP

Ok really strange thing is the PMS appears to have started properly after uninstalling pms share and rebooting.

I’ll stop PMS and install PMS share again

Ok steps I’m doing.

Stop PMS
uninstall pms-share.
Re-install from your link.
open pms-share.
start pms

No plex share.

About to reboot.

Gah, now I’ve got a firmware update.

Be right back…

3 reboots later. Still no plex share.

Ok, so PMS now working, but I now have

The dashboard is empty

Add libraries with your media to make the most of Plex Media Server

Had you previously relocated PMS to a different volume?

FYI. Operations is having an issue. Your data might be there just invisible.
Please stand by.

No same volume.
