Anyone from Plex on here? Still no love trying to run Live TV playback in Win10 Browser in either of the two newest PMS versions (5173 or 5220) only thing that works for me is rolling back to 5081.
Server running on Win 10 Machine. Doesn’t matter what Windows Browser I use to try and watch Live TV (Chrome, Brave, Opera, Firefox) it quits just about every 4 minutes like clock work. Also quits trying to run browser on MacOS (Monterey) in browser…
Works fine on every other device, Android phones, Android Tablets, 3 different Roku boxes, and 2 Samsung TV apps.
For me, 5282 improved the problem - froze around 4 minutes, then actually recovered. Again, seems to only be when using PlexWeb - not Roku, etc. I still don’t consider this “fixed” but for the first time in a while, I think I’ll stick with this version and see how it works over the longer term.
Has anyone from Plex even acknowledged this as an issue? Gets tiresome trying new releases of PMS than have to revert back to 5081 (been through this 3 times now). Would be more comfortable trying 5282 if Plex even acknowledged that they had tried to address the issue, but so far they have acted as if the issue doesn’t even exist.
For me it’s working in Plex-web, but i noticed the browser-local buffer is sometimes very low. Maybe sometimes it depends on what kind of channel you try to stream SD or HD.
Streaming from PMS over Internet (4-5MBit/s up) to Android Mobile (Wifi) works very well.
Changing channels is sometimes a bit buggy.
SD:
HD:
HD to old FireTV stick (1.Gen) failed! (conected with ~120MBit/s - 2,4GHz Wifi)
but client crashing.
SD to old FireTV stick (1.Gen) works - but GUI is very slow
I am not 100% sure what format is used for web browser viewing (Plex Web App), but it is transcoded. I can watch DVR recorded shows in the browser without this issue, it is only when viewing live TV from my HDHomeRun device that it crashes. Watching live TV on other clients, such as Plex on Roku or Android/Google TV does not have this issue.
I’m also having the same issue. Both in Chrome and Firefox. I’ve reduced stream quality to see if it was a buffering issue but that doesn’t make a difference. It’s really annoying to have to restart the live stream every few minutes. Please acknowledge that you guys know about this issue and are working on a fix. Thank you
Can someone share a link where to download 1.24.4.5081 ?
My oldest version in the update folder is 1.24.5.5173-8dcc73a59 idk why the older versions are deleted.
If you are still having a problem then you should probably start a new thread with Debug logs and system information since the web setting corrects the 3 minute timeout issue.
While I don’t have the problem now, I never had those settings on and still had the problem. The 3/4 minute timeout issue was mostly resolved in Plex Web 4.72.0 and even more in the latest 4.72.1 with the Plex Server update from yesterday.
However, I’m also not sure it’s fair to say someone should start a new thread because the solution that worked for you doesn’t work for them.
@thechad6, I definitely am having a better LiveTV experience (not perfect – interacting with progress bar is still glitchy but the +30sec and -10sec buttons seem to be working again) with Plex Web 4.72.1 (through app.plex.tv) with the 1.25.3.5409 server. The Plex Web built into the server is still 4.69.1 and was still unusable for me.
Edit: Since @KennySPT1 (below) still has the problem, I thought I would add more info about my environment where the 3/4 minute LiveTV dropout seems to be gone. I have PMS 1.25.3.5409 on Windows 10 and I was using Plex Web 4.72.1 (app.plex.tv) on the same machine in the Firefox browser. Windows and Firefox both with all latest updates.
And I’m using a Hauppauge QuadHD PCIe tuner (obviously on the same machine). I mention that because I have often seen behaviour can be different for network based tuners such as the HDHomeRun. Also, I only tuned for about 10 minutes since running Plex is not my normal environment right now – I’m still using NextPVR/Jellyfin as my primary environment since Plex server/players have been so unreliable.
NVidia GTX 960 video card if that matters. I have hardware decoding/encoding enabled in PMS.
I agree with @MovieWiz, I’ve had this issue for the past few releases, and never had the use alternate streaming protocol on. So there’s really no reason to start a new thread.
I just tried again with the latest update, and the problem still exists for me.
