PMS Will Not Scan Library To Add New Items

Server Version#: 1.32.0.6918-6f393eda1
Player Version#: 1.67.2.3705-db506a00

Plex Crash Uploader.log (533 Bytes)

Plex suddenly stopped scanning libraries either automatically or by selecting “Scan Library Files”. It seems to run only long enough to write the log file. When it first occurred I updated the Server and the Plex app to the versions shown above but the issue remains. Is there anyway to correct this without completely wiping all the Plex data and starting completely from scratch? I’ve invested a lot of time customizing the meta-data and I hate to lose it all. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I am having the same issue. For me, at least, it’s related to my media being located on a NAS box.
Rolling back to the prior version fixed it without any loss.

Take a look at this thread.

I am seeing a similar issue.
Version 1.32.0.6918

Thanks for the suggestions. I rolled the PMS back to 1.31.3.6868-28fc46b27 and it works fine. Now if I can just find a 64 bit version…

Having the same issue here with 1.32.0.6918. My library is on a DrivePool partition which may or may not have something to do with it. Downgrading to 1.31.3.6868 resolved the issue. This is from the logs:

Apr 12, 2023 18:40:38.412 [23468] DEBUG - Scanner: Processing directory F:\Videos\TV Shows (parent: no)
Apr 12, 2023 18:40:38.413 [23468] WARN - Filesystem error (boost::filesystem::directory_iterator::construct: An internal error occurred [system:1359]: "F:\Videos\TV Shows") during scanning: 1359 in "F:\Videos\TV Shows"
Apr 12, 2023 18:40:38.413 [23468] ERROR - We got an error scanning in F:\Videos\TV Shows
Apr 12, 2023 18:40:38.413 [23468] WARN - Scanning the location F:\Videos\TV Shows did not complete

How do I downgrade to the previous version? Can it be downloaded?

I think these are the prior versions of PMS

I rolled back to version 1.31.3.6868-28fc46b27 and things appear to be working quite nicely now, Television Shows are scanning normally.

Rollback addressed mine. Thank you for the suggestions.

rollback instructions found here.

  1. note down your current Plex Server software version
  2. Stop Plex Server using its tray icon.
  3. uninstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows. Do not use 3rd party ‘uninstaller’ software like Revo etc. Do not use Registry cleaners/optimizers.
  4. go to your Plex data folder .
There is a subfolder in there, named Updates which will contain previous versions of the installer .exe
  5. execute the installer for the previous software version
  6. reboot Windows (just a safety measure, it may work without rebooting as well)

We have been testing a fix for these network share issues with a number of users. What we ae confident so far is fixing it for SMB1. Your error code (1359) is different and I would like to try out a different build to see if it fixes the problem for you. I would like to give you two builds - one that we know fixes smb1 and another that we would like to see if it fixes the other cases.

Let me know if you are ok trying out these builds and I will send you links by PM

A fix to address the various issues with network shares has now been released in Plex Media Server version 1.32.0.6950

  • (Windows) Scanning libraries on certain network mounts could fail (#14259)

For further issues relating to network mapped drives / unc / drivepool etc, please raise as new forum topics providing details and server logs

Thanks
