PMS won't recognise 4K Media Folders on Synology NAS after updating to DSM 7

Server Version# : 1.32.5.7349-7000
Player Version#:

Yesterday, I updated my Synology DS2415+ to DSM 7. As expected, it created a few Plex issues, but I was soon able to sort the permissions etc and get my standard TV and Movies folders to show and index. However, no matter what I do, I cannot get Plex to see the 4K Movies or 4K TV folders.

Prior to the update of DSM, both of these folders showed and worked perfectly, so presumably it can’t be a naming convention issue.

When using Manage Library in settings, when you get to the Add Folders section, the folder shows up but without any content within it, however, the content is there on the NAS and can be played direct from the NAS using VLC, so again, it doesn’t appear to be a corruption issue.

I have even deleted PMS altogether and performed a fresh install with a new token, which again worked perfectly with all content except the two 4K folders. The folders are called 4K TV Shows and 4K Movies as they were prior to the DSM upgrade.

I’m really at a loss to understand why everything else has shown and indexed fine, but these haven’t.

If anyone could offer assistance with issue, I’d be massively grateful.

With thanks, FatCol

Make sure the system internal user PlexMediaServer has at least read-only access to the media. See FAQ 29 - DSM 7 - Give PlexMediaServer access to your media.

IMPORTANT: Check the box to “Apply to this folder, sub-folders and files.”

You Sir, are a lifesaver!

Having followed the instructions you provided, my 4K Movie folder is now indexing and content is showing.

Thank you very much - you have saved me endless hours of frustration!
