I began using Plex as an absolute novice with all standard settings on June 19. It was seamless and perfect, not a single glitch or hitch.
That was until about 10 days ago when I saw the Update prompt on the Server(Windows) as well as on my Amazon Fire Stick. Now I am on the most recent version of both and I can’t play a single thing without getting the prompt that says my network speed is … then it stutters and buffers and finally just stops.
There has been no change in my network, my data plan, my WiFi - all is absolutely the same and I can’t even watch the same Movie which I had watched on these very systems(TV & Laptop via WIFI both being on the same WiFi)
Has anyone experienced similar problems? I had barely begun to enjoy the sheer simplicity & fucntionality of the service, close enough to buy an Annual & this happens!! I may have to go back to the good old HDMI Cable method of hooking up(unless you guys have some other suggestions to that too!!)
Hope to hear from you people & please keep it as much in English as possible because I dont understand Technical.
Removing the Plex app from your Amazon Firestick and re-installing it? I have sometimes found that when i update the FireTV app I have issues with media playback.
Have you tired to reset / reboot your network & Plex server? Does this make any difference?
Are you using the latest version of Plex server? - I had an update notification recently from the Plex server, which worked ok, however when I looked on the Plex website server changelog a further update to the server had been released. Try downloading and installing the latest version manually.
Have you recently installed any software on your Plex server PC which maybe trying to use the same ports for media playback? Or have any Firewall settings changed?
If you go onto the Plex Server > Settings > Dashboard and try to play a media file, what sort of bandwidth usage are you seeing?

Yes - No affect

I have the latest version as notified but have not downloaded anything from the Changelogs.

I dont understand this bit - what exactly needs to be done?
Also there are 2 more observations
When I took the laptop to another apartment (different Wifi from the Wifi on which the Firestick runs) there was no prompt of slow network & I streamed 4 episodes of Spartacus absolutely seamlessly with Subtitles.
Back home (meaning same Wifi), when I add a subtitle - external which is in the same folder as is the movie, I get a pause & then the prompt of slow network, then it resumes slowly( at times I have to choose "convert automatically to do so)
I have exactly the same issue with my 2nd gen. Fire Stick. Movies and TV shows from my PMS have never played without the ‘network speed’ warning coming up. I was thinking about purchasing the 4K version of the Fire Stick as I assumed it was an issue with a deficit in processing power on the 2nd gen. model.
