TVDB likes to rename series for the fun of it and I run into issues every time I have a hard drive issue and have to load files from a backup and rescan. The 1960 and 1961 episodes used to be part of Popeye (1933) but now they’ve been split off and are in Popeye the Sailor (1960) while Popeye (1933) has been renamed just Popeye the Sailor.
I split them into two different folders, Popeye the Sailor (1933) and Popeye the Sailor (1960), and no matter what I do it only matches with Popeye the Sailor, combines them both into the same show, and fills in the metadata for every season except 1960 and 1961.
I’ve done fix match with both ids and it always says 1960 but has the picture from the 1933 one and doesn’t have (1960) in parentheses next to Popeye the Sailor. It only pulls in metadata for every season before 1960.
I think it’s matching with the 1933 version since that’s where it’s getting the metadata from even though it says 1960 over the picture.
I figured out if I change the episode ordering and naming for the 1960s seasons to TMDB or default, then it will fill in the info for the 1960 and 1961 seasons but not anything from the 30’s - 50’s. If I change episode ordering to TVDB, then the the 30’s - 50’s get filled in, but not 60 and 61.
I wish I could get it to not combine these. For now, I will have to let it fill in the 60’s info using TMDB, lock everything on every individual episode so it keeps it, and then switch to TVDB episode ordering so I can have the other twenty plus seasons named correctly.
I’m not sure why TMDB is the default when TVDB has a lot more series set up correctly.
I don’t know if something got fixed behind the scenes with the database or if I missed it before, but I was able to click the three dots and choose split apart. Now that I’m able to leave them split Popeye the Sailor names correctly if I change the episode ordering to TheTVDB (Aired) and Popeye the Sailor (1960) names correctly when episode ordering is set to library default.
