Pr_end_of_file_error

Server Version#: plexmediaserver_1.20.1.3252-a78fef9a9_amd64 on Debian 10 64-bit (Plex Pass)
Player Version#: any

Hello All,

I am having an issues with Plex Media Server. I have been getting "PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR " When I try to access my server with HTTPS, but I can access it fine on HTTP. I just reinstalledthe entire OS and installed only Plex Media Server, but I still have this error.

Does anyone else have this issue?

I’m having this problem too, i reinstalled on a different server and same thing. No fix for me yet.

DEBUG log file ZIP please which captures this?
(Please make certain VERBOSE logging is turned OFF if you’ve enabled it)

It’s not possible to diagnose this type problem from a description. There are too many things involved.

Per your Request!

It seems like when I did a fresh install without any of my back up data, I was able to nothave this error anymore. However, when I added back in the back up data folder, the error came back.

Is there a way to clean out some of the back up data? I typically copy /var/lib/Plexmediaserver and then copy that back. Perhaps this could fix the bug.

You have VERBOSE logging enabled. I cannot track what’s happening because of that.

If you want to skip the backup and reload, that’s fine.

  1. Stop Plex
  2. App.plex.tv/desktop -> Settings - Authorized Devices - Remove your server
  3. Rename /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library -> Library.old
  4. You may now start PMS, open the server (127.0.0.1 or LAN IP) and setup as if fresh. The other “Library.old” sits there but is isolated.
  5. If you’re happy with how that works out, delete Library.old.

Hellos,

apoligies for that…I thought I disabled it. I made sure I disabled it and redownloaded the logs.

I would prefer not to lose my backup…as I spent a lot of time setting up the libraries. I was more wondering if there are some barebones backup that I could do.

Is this you?

Aug 30, 2020 15:27:28.466 [0x7fb3d5599700] DEBUG - Request came in with unrecognized domain / IP 'plex.talbothome.com' in header Origin; treating as non-local

If so, you need inform Plex about it.

Settings - Server - Network - Show Advanced

For future reference, DEBUG logs are all we need unless there is a specific problem between mouse click & app -or- server-client communications.

It’s not a filter . it actually controls how much data is logged so turning VERBOSE off later only helps what will be logged in the future.

Hello,

Yes it is. I use it so it’s easier to find my instance if I an outside of my LAN. However, trying to access it directly via the IP addess yields the same results.

Here is me doing the same attempts with just the IP address.

Is this server on a local LAN or is it remote?
I ask because while I see the RFC-1918 adapter, the only other traffic I see is all WAN.

I see the DVR start up and determine what it needs to do but, before doing anything else, I see PMS shutdown (commanded shutdown)

It is on a local LAN, but I spit my network into three subnets. So the PMS is on 192.168.1.x, and everything else connects on 192.168.1.x, 192.168.2.x, 192.168.10.x . There may be some remote traffic (due to family using it).

Is PMS configured to treat all those subnets as one local net?

The default rules are IP/netmask = local. Anything else is “remote”.
A host can’t be claimed / setup from remote.

I think I also saw a SSL / Cert issue but cannot find it anymore.
Do you have your own domain cert?

I suspect you do given you reference HTTPS.

PMS is configured to treat all of those subnets as “local”, yes, I just did 192.168.1.1/16 to make it easy on myself.

I have my own domain cert, but I never configured PMS to use it (it’s on it’s own physical server). I only used the plex SSL certs. If you see a cert issue, I suspect that would be why I am having an issue.

I tried to load my own certificates (Let’s encrypt) but that doesn’t seem to help nor casue other errors.

EDIT: Actually, loading my own certificates did fix the problem! I am guessing then that in my back up, there is an issue with the certififcates.

Thank you. What I thought I was seeing was a mix of some things attempting to assert a cert against Plex (which had no knowledge of the cert and erred out).

Is everything playing ok now?

Yep it is. Now I’m wondering what was trying to? Where can I see that so I can look at it myself.

No clue at this point.

All I can recommend is to keep an eye open and, if it surfaces again, go looking for certificate issues first thing.
