If I understand smart playlists correctly, I should be able to select music based on criteria (mood, rating, etc) and have the playlist automatically update as new music is added that matches mood, or rating changes. Correct?
I set up a Smart Playlist using “Euphoric Energy” mood and the ratings 5, 4 and not rated. My thinking was that I would get all songs of that mood and any I didn’t like I could rate 1-3 and they should be removed, but new music should [in theory] appear if it matches the mood.
In practice, this isn’t working for me. If I’m listening to the playlist and rate a song, that rating persists when the next song starts. If I change that rating and skip back to the previous song, the rating is changed to whatever I rated the “next” song. If I leave the playlist and play the song from the album and rate it 1-3, it is not automatically removed from the smart playlist. I made a second smart playlist using the same filters and the low rating song was gone, but there was another song not previously in the list, but not in any way newly added. I guess it could be said that the only way in which music smart playlists are meeting my expectations is that they have multiple songs and I can shuffle them.
Is what I’m experiencing, the same as others? Is this how it’s intended to work? Anyone have their’s actually working similar to how I was envisioning? I guess is this a bug, a “feature” or a misunderstanding of the feature on my part?
