PreRoll does not appear for recently added movies

Server Version#: 1.22.0.4163
Machine running Server 2012 R2.

Plex Preroll video are not showing only for most recently added videos. Issue started 2 days ago. Videos added earlier in the day are showing preroll videos, but those added later in the day are not. I updated to the latest version of PMS, but still the issue persists. Even after reboots, this issue still persists. Also, removed movies, scanned library, re-added movies, scanned again; Optimized database, Clean Bundles, emptied trash, refreshed metadata, Changed the preroll videos, removed preroll videos, then re-added preroll videos, rebooted server. It’s only the most recent videos that I’ve added where the prerolls WILL NOT play for. They are located in the same folder as all my other movies, with the same folder structure. They are .mp4 files, and no other strange or out of the ordinary issues that I can see.

I have 2 machines, and I actually cloned my drive and put it in the second machine, where the issue still persists. This has allowed me to continue to play around with the issue without affecting my family who remote into Plex. Again, I’m at a loss as to what is causing this, and it only started a couple of days ago. Plex Media Server Logs_2021-03-10_09-49-20.zip (2.1 MB)

Your logs only ever mention the “Sit Back & Relax” preroll once (back on March 4).

Can you please…

  1. enable debug logging under Settings > [Server Name] > General by checking Enable Plex Media Server debug logging (please keep Enable Plex Media Server debug logging disabled!!)
  2. reproduce this situation
    • with a movie that plays the preroll
    • with the movie that fails to play the preroll
  3. upload the new logs

I think it is working now. On the test machine (clone machine), I went through and checked the prerolls list, and it looks like for whatever reason, random spaces were placed in some of the preroll names. Not sure why, as they are copied and pasted, and the file names don’t have the extra spaces. IE: ‘R:/Preroll/Plex Preroll - Sit Back & Relax.mp4’ was showing ‘R:/ Preroll/Plex Preroll - Sit Back & Relax. mp4’ and there were more of the files that this had happened to.

Strange thing is I don’t know why the spaces were added, or how? Also, Why did this just prevent the newest few movies to not show prerolls, and only start happening mid day a couple days ago? How did the prerolls show for the other movies, if the filename was not correct?

It seems to be playing properly most of the time now. I got errors a couple times, recently, with it trying to play prerolls, but at least these times it has attempted to play them and not just skip them completely. Again, all I’ve done is re-pasted the file names for the preroll list and made sure that the spaces in the name were showing correctly.

EDIT: It looks like spaces were removed from the original text. Here’s the second example with ^ indicating ONLY the extra spaces and how many. R:/^^Preroll/Plex Preroll - ^Sit ^^^Back & ^Relax.^mp4
