Hi there,
Ive installed Plex on my NAS and everything works great, but I can’t fix the preroll…
I tried everything but it just won’t play my preroll. All the trailer options are on and they preroll works fine (added it to my movies)
Please help me
Ive got this as a path but I really tried all the different paths I could find on the internet:
“Z:\Plex\Pre-Roll\Pre-Roll.avi”
This looks like a path on your computer that accesses your NAS. You need to add a path relative to the server from the perspective of your NAS since the server is running on your NAS not your computer. Look look at the paths for the folders for one of your libraries as an example.
Yes that make sense but how can I see my librarie paths? I can’t see my path in the settings and on my NAS the plex installation folders and stuff are invisible so i don’t know that path
Edit a library then click on the add folders tab to see the path to the media for that library. Your path to the pre roll will be similar if it is stored on your NAS. ( but to be clear, don’t put the preroll in that same folder and don’t put it in the Plex installation folders.)
for example my GoPro videos are stored here in /Volumes/BigFish/GoPro
In addition to that I’d convert the file to mp4. Just to make sure everything is compatible
Did that too but it still didn’t work 
I have a WD too, and I set the path to /mnt/HD/HD_a2/ Movies/pre-roll-01.mp4
oh sorry I didn’t realize you had the My Cloud Home which is limited in that.
For that then I would add it to maybe add the preroll folder into the Home Videos folder. Then after a scan when it shows up in your Home Video library. do a get info on that video in the Web app and get the path from that.
Hover on the poster in the library and click the three dots on lower right. Then choose Get Info from the menu. It will open a window that will show the path to that file.

No problem… I tried what you exactly what you said and my path is: * /data/user/0/com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb/auth0|5f8df9a7504d020068dabdbc/Plex/Shared Home Videos/Pre-Roll/Pre-Roll.avi
But it still won’t play my intro

Nope doesn’t work
Not sure why the path did not work but another way to do it is to get the URL from the XML.
After hitting get Info on the bottom left of the window hit `View XML" depending on browser it will open a new browser window/tab with a URL something like
https://192-168-1-102.3yabbadabbadoo9ee.plex.direct:32400/library/metadata/50969?checkFiles=andtbgusandthat
copy the URL up to the number after metadata. so you just end up with something like
https://192-168-1-102.3yabbadabbadoo9ee.plex.direct:32400/library/metadata/50969 and paste that in the preroll field.
Pff still doesn’t work How can this be posible lol

that URL looks like it is missing a dash between the 2 and 17 should probably start with https://192-168-2-17 assuming that is the NAS iP
What devices are you using to test that it works or not? I am assuming the Web player in browser right

I use the webplayer on my PC and the app on my Samsung Smart TV
