Problem: An error occurred trying to play "1". shaka1001 (Network)

Hello everyone ! I have an error that appears since the last two PLEX updates.

FYI: my Plex server (Version 1.9.7.4460) runs on a Synology NAS (DS 1815+). Can not play movies on Apple TV, iPhone or Safari browser. However, TV show reading works on all devices.
Have you ever encountered this error? From what I could see on the Plex forum, you have to reinstall, is that right?

Thank you in advance !

If the error message states ‘network’, then that is what you should be looking at. Try rebooting the modem/router and everything connected to it, including wireless devices. Then check to make sure everything is on the same subnet.

Set a static IP address for your NAS, or if your router supports it, use DHCP Reservation.

You should also note, that this error may be caused by transcoding (the network is unable to keep up), if that is the case then make sure your media can be Direct Played on your Plex clients.

It is often best if you do not rely on wireless connections for playback, they are susceptible to interference and poor signal conditions which may cause this error.

If all else fails, then by all means re-install.

Hello !

I check all and i come back to you. Thanks.

Hello

Reboot DONE
Static IP with DHCP OK
Direct Played on Plex clients OK
Signal conditions NOT POSSIBLE (2-3 meters between router and aTV)

It still does not work. I think I will have to reinstall plex… :#

I have the same problem, nothing of the above worked even for me.

I am a regular (yearly) subscriber but I have to say that Plex many times doesn’t work as it is supposed to be. A lot of errors, here and there. Almost all the time, no solution. You try to ask here but, usually, nobody answer. Nodoby knows. You pay and there is no official support! This is very unpleasant and frustrating.

Any other solution for the shaka1001 problem above?

How about some log file sets (Settings - Server - Help - Download Logs), plus the XML of the item being played, and name of the browser/client all captured immediately after the error?

We can’t debug/fix what we can’t see

Chrome Browser Version 58.0.3029.110 (64-bit) (buth with the latest is the same, I have already tried at home, or even worse). Errors are on different movies (some others works fine): my library is entirely on GDrive.

Problem is the same using the Plex App for Iphone, latest version, latest iOS (here it remain in a “forever searching” status). I don’t know how to extrapolate the XML file.

I have deleted the Plex cloud yesterday (trying to solve) then I created a newest one, re-linking GDrive. But the problems still persists as below (Shaka1001 error):

Snatched doesn’t load and doesn’t recognize Subtitles (but one day ago it was able to do so!).
Gods Of Egypt doesn’t load.
Geostorm doesn’t load.
La vita immortale di Henrietta Lacks" doesn’t load.

Looks like that the AVI files don’t work, while the Mp4 works fine

Thanks

Your log file is corrupt. It’s only 63KB it should be several MB.

That’s what I have downloaded from Server-Support menu. So, if it is corrupt, it’s in the way the download works in Plex that is corrupted.

Anyway, without doing really nothing (since yesterday), the shaka1001 error magically disappeared! Every movies now cast smoothly.

The only problem that persists is that Plex is not able to recognize subtitles (even if I have an account on OpenSubtitles and the subtitles for the movie are available).

I noticed (see the attached page) that the agent priorities change, from day to day, without doing nothing. As you can see now OpenSubtitles is at 2nd place and you cannot check it (maybe is not relevant doing so). But tomorrow, without doing nothing, I am pretty sure that OpenSubtitles will be again at the last place.

Could this affect the search of subtitles by Plex ?

Please open File Station.
Go to the Plex share. (If you cannot see the Plex share, Control Panel - Shared Folders - Plex - Edit . give your username permission to read/write it)
Navigate through Library - Application Support - Plex Media Server
Right click Logs and Compress to Logs.zip

Please attach that ZIP file here. Make sure it completes uploading before clicking “Post Comment”.

I have done everything.

But he final result doesn’t change.

I always have a Plex Media Server Logs_2017-11-24_13-21-12.zip file of 37KB!

Now I have shakaerror 1002 on other movies but just from a PC.

After three month still blocked with shakaerror 1001. This is the log. Any help ?
