Plex Media Server on QNAP NAS not adding recently added movie

Server Version#: 1.30.1.6562
Player Version#: 4.99.2

I’ve added about 20 new movies to my Plex server running on my QNAP TS-453D and all but one shows up in the media library. (The 1947 release of Dead Reckoning)
I’ve re-scanned the library several times but Plex still won’t see it.
I deleted the file from the library, forced a rescan then copied the movie back into the library and forced another rescan but still it’s not showing up. I then shutdown the Plex Server, deleted the movie from the library, restarted the Plex server and forced a scan but nope, still not there.
So, next I shutdown the Plex server, deleted the movie, restarted the QNAP, added the movie back into Plex library, started up Plex server and re-scanned the library again… still the movie will not show up in Plex!

The movie (.m4v format same as all the others in my library) plays just fine in VLC. To rule out bad encoding, I dumped the movie ISO into Handbrake (version 1.6.1 (2023012300)), and re-encoded using the same preset template as all the other movies in my library, shut down the Plex server, deleted the existing file, restarted the QNAP, added the new encoded movie to the library, restarted Plex server, forced a library rescan but still the movie is NOT showing up. I don’t know what else to try. Any suggestions??

Please show us a screen capture from like file station, showing us the naming from the root of your library all the way down to the .m4v file

Picture attached.

and it wouldn’t hurt to also include a copy of your server logs too

Since you are not following the naming standard, it’s most likely matched as something else

I not only recommend a separate directory for each movie, but also that you follow the standard
Ref: https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-movie-media-files/

As such, naming should be:
Dead Reckoning (1947) {tmdb-20663}/Dead Reckoning (1947) {tmdb-20663}.m4v

Also, you have your medias in the QNAP share named Multimedia
That is also not recommended
Ref: Qnap faq.....read me first!

dane22,
in the file name what is the purpose of {tmdb-20663} ?

I’ll implement the suggestions in the links and report back.

It assists with matching. See the naming & organization support document linked in his post.

Followed your instructions and Plex now see’s the movie.

Thanks for your help!!!

Glad it helped

And the tmdb ID was found by browsing to tmdb.org and then look at the url

You could also use {imdb-ttXXXXXX} as an alternative

And looking again at your Screen Capture, I stand corrected regarding the Multimedia share, since not the QNAP one, but instead one you created in your Home directory
