Problem with two movies called "Ride (2018)"

Please have a look at these two movies:

Both movies are called that way in their own folders:

…/Ride (2018) {imdb-tt8456680}.mkv
…/Ride (2018) {imdb-tt6237268}.mkv

After every Mediascan the scanner matches both into:

The result is a duplicate every time the scanner runs. I did split both, I tried to remap within the Plex App, I tried to rename them on disk - nothing helps. After a scan everythings wrong again.

What can I (or you) do?

Might know what is happening here. This movie Ride (2018) - IMDb does not appear to have an entry on tmdb (at least upon a quick look I could not find it).

As plex uses a consolidated metadata approach I think enteries need to exist on tmdb and imdb for matching to work regardless of the id being used to match.

I’d suggest you create an entry on tmdb for this movie. Once created make sure to include the external id linking it from tmdb to imdb. Finally, wait 48/72 hours for plex to pickup the change and have it replicated into their back-end.

Scratch all that. Just searched for imdb-tt6237268 and imdb-tt6237268 and both movies were found correctly. What @Divideby0 says below on the folders is most likely the issue. Good luck.

You say they are each in their own folder? Did you include the imdb IDs for each movie in the folder name too, or just their filename?

Strange that each time you scan it recombines each into one entry. Once a file has been split and matched, it should stick and never recombine…

Plex dance

Ride (2018) {imdb-tt6237268}.mkv

Ride - Downhill (2018) {tmdb-535561}.mkv

Had to use imdb and tmdb as suggested. Worked without Plex Dance.

Thanks.
