These two movies are in my library, which uses the Plex Movie scanner/agent. The TMDBid is in each movie’s folder name. Plex matches #1, and the metadata is correct, but the artwork is from #2. Plex can’t find a match for #2 at all. I’ve tried Fix Match.
Movie #1 is in IMDB; movie #2 is not. I could add #2 to IMDb, but wondered if there is something Plex can/should fix on their end.
I can replicate this problem matching TMDBid, and I think you found a bug. However, these two videos are BBC TV eps, BBC Documentaries - Unknown - Season 2024 - TheTVDB.com
So if it’s not too much hassle, you could file them as TV for now.
But I think we can agree that the matching problem with films should be addressed.
I tested with PMS-1.40.4.8679 on QNAP x64.
I used the Plex agent / scanner against the following file structure:
/Media/
Movies/
Strike The Village That Fought Back (2024) {tmdb-1283377}/
Strike The Village That Fought Back (2024) {tmdb-1283377}.avi
Strike The Women Who Fought Back (2024) {tmdb-1258684}/
Strike The Women Who Fought Back (2024) {tmdb-1258684}.avi
and I get two versions of one film.
Thanks for the report!
Thanks for taking the time to confirm! I don’t believe TV is an option, since TMDB does not allow invented shows like BBC Documentaries, and I am using the new Plex TV Series agent that (to my understanding) keys off TMDB. Such “shows” are a great way to keep tabs on new/recent documentaries, but I’m one of those sad people out digging up (or ginning up) decent artwork and metadata for individual film entries.
I have made a report for our metdata team to try to fix the two movies that got merged. But I do not have an ETA.
it gets data from both. after adding the “show” they will use whatever the library is set to but you can change the “episode order” for the show to use TVDB (aired) and it should refresh
