Problem with wrong subtitles

Having some problems with subtitles being completely wrong, for example i got subtitles from Rick and Morty and Game of Thrones on just Top Gear. I tried clearing out media files by moving the top gear folder, clearing and moving it back but nothing

Please provide a directory list / screenshot / etc showing how the files are named, including extension, and organized.

They’re all in seperate season folders renamed with FileBot from TVDB data using plex naming standards, plex had no problem getting all the info of the seasons and episodes themselves2020-05-28 03_54_49-Top Gear Complete

I’ve also had the problem with a show called My 600lb Life, i’ve never had the problem before until recently

Where are the subtitle files? In the same folder as the individual episodes?

Rick & Morty and Game of Thrones are organized/named/etc the same as Top Gear? Essentially like below.

Do the subtitles for Rick & Morty and Game of Thrones display correctly?

MKV or MP4 files? If MP4, check your TV show agents (settings -> agents -> shows). Make sure Local Media Assets is at the bottom (move & refresh metadata if necessary). Plex reads metadata from MP4 files. If LMA is at the top and the file contains bad metadata, it can throw off how Plex organizes the files. In addition to subtitle issues, the shows would probably not display correctly either.

Know I’m asking the basic questions. Just that such issues usually come down to naming & organization, and yours seems spot on.

Only other thing I can think of is to pull the logs files and see if they show anything.

  • Set your system for debug logs only. Server settings -> General (Show Advanced). Check box for debug logs. Uncheck box for verbose logs.
  • Play 30 seconds or so of a Top Gear episode with wrong subtitles
  • Wait ~30 seconds.
  • Pull the log files & attach the ZIP file to the thread.

I don’t have either Rick and Morty or Game of thrones downloaded and i have no subtitle files for top gear even, i unchecked verbose logging and now the bad subtitles seem to have disappeared, i have no idea why or how but it seems to have fixed itself. Also the subtitles looked fine and i name all my files with the name of the episode if possible
