Hey guys, I have never had any problems before so this is my first time on here looking for help! After the server update I did a few days ago my server is having problems with “remote access” …This is a problem for me as I share my library with family and more importantly I use my Plex for slow times here at my shop(work)! …Is this a known issue or is there a fix for this? Like i said, i have never had any problems and Plex has always worked flawlessly for me outside a couple small bumps that worked themselves out! I really have no idea what to do about this but it is getting very old! Currently i pay for the plex pass but will not do so anymore if I can’t get this figured out! Thanks in advance!
If you are using Plex’s UPnP feature, I would suggest to switch over to using a manual port selection and setting up a port forward on your router.

What do you mean? Sorry, I know what UPnP stands for but Im confused, How do i know if i am using that? and also what do you mean a manual port? I have done port forwarding in the past on my router for videos games and what not so I do know how to do that but I dont know how to set it up for this, like what port to forward etc… Can you please explain in “dummy” terms

You’re doing the same thing. Set a static IP address for the server is you haven’t already. Pick a port say between 50000 - 70000.
Forward that port with the local port set to 32400 in your router settings. Set the manual port number in the Plex server remote access settings. Job done.

Did this, even followed a few different videos trouble shooting everything possible and still no remote access! …I can keep resetting and get the remote access to work temporarily but it keeps “disabling” itself, or losing remote connection throughout the day, until I reset my system again!
Getting extremely annoying! Is there a way to go back to an old version like 1.3.3 ? …Since my server worked perfectly fine then and now I’m on Version 1.5.3.3580 which has been a complete nightmare since the day i installed the update
UPDATE: For anyone having the remote problem with the latest 1.5.3 update…Just uninstall your server and go to Filehorse and search Plex Media Server and it has all the older files listed, I am back down to 1.5.1 and its working just fine!
