You can see the channel set to record is 786AMCHD, which is HD, yet Program Guide thinks is SD as shown next to the video. This was confusing. Originally I thought the SD channels were taking priority for some reason as some HD shows would be missing from “scheduled recordings”. So if I toggled my preference to HD it would say there was nothing to record. I disabled all SD channels and re-imported the guide, and thus found that it was incorrectly detecting HD channels as SD causing the confusion and illusion of missing recordings.
The Gracenote program guide as downloded by Plex is defective and incomplete. In my market, my cable provider, (WOW), uses Zap2It for program guide data.
If a show is scheduled on an SD channel and also on an HD channel in the Gracenote guide, then Plex will record the HD version.
if the show is scheduled on the SD channel and not the HD channel, then Plex will record the SD version. If I specify HD only, then plex will not record the episode at all.
Further confusion exists because the Recording Schedule display does not correspond to the the list of episodes on the right for some shows. This appears to be a bug in the DVR.
I would like to see Plex offer a choice of program guide data sources so users can choose whatever data source works best in their market.
I was having similar issues with Better Call Saul. I’m thinking it’s the episode guide data specifically for AMCHD. If the EPG data that plex pulls has this coded incorrectly I’m not sure what Plex can do. Personally as a workaround, I set my recordings to only record on the channel AMCHD but allow for SD or HD recordings. That way, even if it is listed as SD, it will still get scheduled to record and will still record only the HD version.
Yeah, unfortunately we’ve seen some limitations and issues regarding our metadata provider and are working with them to correct them.
Having the same issue. I really don’t know what program will record in HD or SD until is recorded. NOT GOOD.
Same problem here for New Zealand HD DVB-T channels (freeview). Everything says SD for the HD channels.
Gracenote is $#!%. Well for us kiwis anyway. Guide data is useless for NZ making plex DVR virtually useless. Have mentioned this countless times. If you can take note for us kiwi’s @keithah that would be great!
