PS4 client - extremely disappointed

My apologies to everyone beforehand as some of what I'm about to rant about is probably addressed in another thread but I just don't have the energy to search for them right now.....

I just had my first experience with the PS4 Plex client and I have to say that for something that I had to pay for, it is missing some of the most BASIC features.

- Lack of browsing by folder: For someone who has massive collection of TV series, it makes it impossible to browse through the collection.

- Lack of UTF-8 support for foreign language: This is not the same issue as was seen in Roku where the OS does not support the language.  PS4 natively support pretty much all display languages, but yet the support of displaying those languages is not available in the app.  Asian characters such as Japanese shows up at rectangles.  The iOS version of the client support this, why can't this be included in other clients?  Specially a paid one at that.

- Lack of different display format other than tiles: Now I understand that this maybe something that's required as an app for the PS4, but an alternate option might be nice.

- The lack of ability to jump from section to section (ie. jump from A to B instead of scrolling through everything in A) using button on the controller:  This is something other apps has and rather than have the user select a section to jump to.

I like Plex, and I enjoy using Plex.  But I have serious issues when I'm being asked to pay for something that even lack some of the most basic features.  I've given up on hoping some of the issues in the Roku version of the client gets resolved simply because Roku's limitations, but I expected better for an app that's on a much more flexible platform.

  le sigh

Features (and lack thereof) are well documented here.  The app is far from done... there's only been a PS app for a few months.   These forums are where we (the users) provide feedback, help to fix bugs, add features, etc.

- The lack of ability to jump from section to section (ie. jump from A to B instead of scrolling through everything in A) using button on the controller:  This is something other apps has and rather than have the user select a section to jump to.

If you're talking about being able to jump to a title that starts with the letter "S" for instance, this feature is already in place.  When you select "All Movies" there is a row of letters in the alphabet that you can click to jump to.

Firstly, they're working on bringing more features to this PS app that's still in its infancy.  Relax.  Secondly, you have "serious issues" with the state of the app given that you're paying for it??  If what you pay for Plex Pass is causing this much turmoil in your life ... i can't even.

Guy expects an initial release of an app to be flawless.  "I want it now" generation at its finest.

Sorry to hear that you are disappointed in the app. I think what is causing this frustration is likely that you have misunderstood what you are paying for, and that is unfortunate. Let me try to be as clear as I can to avoid future disappointments. Plexpass gives you features that non-Plexpass subscribers do not have access to. But also it gives you the possibility to use clients that are in an alpha or beta stage way before normal Plex users. The Xbox app and the Playstation app is part of that. Early releases that you can choose to use if you want to.

When the Playstation (and XB) app is deemed good enough for release, non-plexpass users can buy the apps. Until then only Plexpass members can use the apps, and be a part of suggesting improvements here in the forum.
