Hello, whenever I use Plex on my PS5, the video and audio works just fine all the time, however whenever I enable subtitles, the screen goes pink and white and audio plays for 3-4 seconds and then everything hangs. The PS5 stops outputting a signal (My LG tv just goes black), the controller is unresponsive even though it’s connected and pressing the power button on the console does the 3 beeps and nothing happens. The only way to get the console working is to turn off the power at the extension cord and turn it back on. Is Plex aware of this issue, and do other people have the same issue?
I think I have seen some similar reports but don’t recall if specific to PS5. ( the app runs on multiple devices) Would you mind enabling logging to server in the app then grab the server logs after it happens so i can add to a report. Hopefully something is written to the logs before it gets completely unresponsive.
also can you share the version number of your Plex Media Server and what it is running on.
My Plex media server is running version: 1.30.2.6563 on a Windows 10 System
Here is the zip file with the logs. I just opened up the app on my console at 3:18PM (Central Time), and subtitles were already enabled in the Cars 2 movie, so it immediately had that issue and crashed when I hit resume.
This time luckily the ps5 went back to the home screen after 2 minutes of being unresponsive.
Plex app version on PS5: Client Version: 5.54.1 ; Platform Version: 6.50
I also just realized that this issue happens when streaming HDR movies and enabling subtitles. Regardless of whether I enable/disable HDR on my console, the issue persists every time with HDR movies.
I’ve been reading another post about converting image based subtitles to text based subtitles and i believe that might be the issue. The issue i have seem to be from VOBSUB type of subtitles. The ones that worked so far are the movies with SRT subtitles. I’ll try this conversion and see if it does anything.
