I just had the exact same issue. Xbox Client crashing service when starting playback using SRT subtitles. Service on linux says its “deactivating” and I see this at the bottom of the log file:
WARN - Failed to set up two way stream, caught exception: write: Connection reset by peer
Its indeed caused by SRT subtitles. Tested playback of the same media with subtitles disabled and there was no issue.
Just experienced this too on XBSX. PLEX package on synology nas just stopping completely as soon as I try to play a video with subtitles on the Xbox app. Works fine when you turn subtitles off before playing. Very frustrating… Hoping for a quick fix as soon as possible!
I’m on the latest version of PMS (DMS 7) and the latest version of the XBSX client app.
Are there any logs from the Xbox that we can gather? This is rather frustrating when I have people stream then one client can end everyone’s stream. I was streaming music on PlexAmp in the car when everything died. It was the same client/user. I have them log out of the app, delete the app and retry. Same issue.
I hear you… I’ve never experienced anything like this with PLEX. I mean the fact this is completely shutting down the PMS service on my NAS meaning nobody can watch anything until I’ve logged in there and restarted the service again is crazy. Especially when it’s caused by something as simple and common as trying to watch something with an SRT subtitle on the Xbox client, and then everything gets nuked. I spent 40mins trying to figure this out last night before finding this thread and it ruined a planned family movie night as we ran out of time… Very frustrating. Really hoping for a fix to be released quickly to address this
Looks like this may have been fixed in the latest version of PLEX on Xbox? I just tried playing a few files with SRT subtitles and they all played ok. Can you update your Xbox app to the latest version and give it a go?
How strange… Mine has been working fine since I updated the Xbox version of PLEX (v 2.85.2.70). I tested it on the file that was crashing everything before, as well as a bunch of other files with SRT subs and no issues.
