I’m trying to set up the plex media server for the first time on this NAS but I’m getting the error attached when trying to start the plex media server,
trying to update the plex media server but failed
hope someone can point out on how to solve the issue!
i 've got the same error message starting the plex media server the first time on my QNAP device. It would be great, if you could check the attched log files and give us some ideas on how to fix this. Thank you.
QNAP TS-239 Pro ii+
Firmware 4.2.6
Plex Media Server v1.9.6.4429
might be a mistake on my side using gzip via ssh. As PMS 1.9.6.4429, was the latest version provided in QNAPs AppCenter, I find a link to PMS 1.14.1.5488 which seem to work with QTS 4.2.6 32-bit devices.
it’s great that I can use my aged NAS to ask Alexa to play my music via Plex from it.
What I really dislike is, the removal of the connection to Plex server < 1.15.2 with the latest iOS app (> 7.5) some weeks ago. As 1.14.1.5488 was last running version for my NAS, I will never be able to use Plex for iOS to listen to the NAS-stored music from my iPhone, as the iOS version is > iOS 12.4. Was there a particular reason for it? And is there a chance to bring Plex for iOS 7.4 back to the app store?
Allthough there is no Chromecast support, I tried to use the local runing Plex Web via Safari. Unfortunately music will not play up to the end and the songs restart from the begining after 1:40 min. Is this intended or can I fix this in some way?
I would really appreciate your help. Your doing a great job. Thanks!
I cannot speak to what Engineering and Product have changed.
QNAP discontinued the NAS. We cannot influence that nor would it be appropriate to attempt doing so.
They instructed us to discontinue support for 32 bit platforms and we complied.
Your NAS is software frozen and will be completely discontinued as of Dec 2020.
TS-439 Pro II Limited 2017-12 (QTS 4.2) 2020-12
I’m sorry but technology has moved on. It’s time to allow the NAS to be the good NAS it is and migrate to more current & supported technology.
I don’t want to start a discussion on why fully functional hardware should be replaced. If the requirements have not changed, discontinued support and missing updates should not be a reason to throw everything away, especially from an environmental perspective.
