QNAP TVS-x7XT - Plex “Looking for servers…”

SPECS:
Unit: TVS-x72XT
IP: 169.254.241.194 / 255.255.0.0
Plex Version: 1.18.8.2527-740d4c206-x86_64 (Downloaded .qpkg from Plex, installed manually in AppCenter)

It seems I just can’t solve it, I spend a lot of hours and tried several solutions I found on the web on different forums.
Restarted NAS, router, installed up few times tried different versions. This is the problem I’m constantly getting:

I even created a second Plex Account and used it for the PMS login to be sure that nothing is wrong with my primary account but it didn’t help.

I tried this as well: How To Linux, Mac · ukdtom/ClaimIt Wiki · GitHub

Got the following errors:

Screenshot 2020-03-22 at 12.57.34

Please help I don’t know what else to do.

What IP address did you enter, when running ClaimIt on the QNAP?

Thank you for your answer. I used this one “IP: 169.254.241.194”.
Then I got this error:
" The IP address entered is not in Private Address Space
Either ‘127.0.0.1’ or an address in private address space is needed to claim a server"

Well, type 127.0.0.1 when asked

And just FYI, an address of 169.254.241.194 indicates, that your IP Net is a bad one, since it indicates that the device can’t reach the internet!

Do you have a DHCP server in your net, and if so, is your QNAP setup to use that?

Did that as well. Got the following:

This is my connection to the QNAP

It does have an internet connection. I have access to Qnap interface

First of all, the screenshot you provided looks like a screenshot from a Mac?
(And not a Mac user)

And that indicates, that your DHCP server is NOT working, since there’s no default gateway nor DNS servers.

Also note, that the address starting with 169.254 is used by a device, when it can’t get an IP address from a DHCP server

And adding to self here:

Did you run ClaimIT on your workstation, or on your QNAP in an SSH session?

If you ran it on your workstation, then the IP you should enter is the address of your QNAP, in this case 169.254.7.76

In your screenshot, you’ve got your Thunderbolt interface selected; select Wi-Fi instead and see what its IP address is (and use that). That Thunderbolt interface doesn’t appear to be connected to a network and is therefore assigned link-local address, which will not be very useful here.

Yes, I’m using Mac.

Any suggestion how to solve it? I will focus on that first.

I have run it on my workstation, tried every IP address I could find. Always the same output:

Open a terminal on your Mac, and type ifconfig

Thank you for you help.

This is my W-Fi IP address:

Did you mean that I should have tried using that for “Script to claim a Plex Media Server”? If you did this is my outcome:

This is outcome:

Step 2: What’s the IP Address of your QNAP, and should be something starting with 192.168.0

Yes, but don’t include the period at the end:
192.168.0.17
Instead of:
192.168.0.17.

My QNAP IP address is 192.168.0.1

Are you 100% sure about that, since a .1 address normally is the router!

If you open a browser, and type http://192.168.0.1 does it open the QNAP QTS login page?

Tried without “.”. Got this:

It’s the IP of your QNAP you should enter, that might be 192.168.0.1???

Do not enter the address of your Mac!

Sorry, I thought you were running a server on your Mac. Ignore my advice and follow @dane22’s.

You are right it is the address of my router. Sorry about that. Let me google how I can find that address.
