QNAP TVS472XT Can't Run PMS

Server Version#: 1.16.6
Player Version#: NA

Installing PMS from QNAP Store, I launch it and get:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to 192.168.1.###:32400. PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

Are you connecting this IP via https or http?

When I hit launch, the browser opens with a URL that uses https: https://192.168.1xxx:32400/web

If I take out the “s” it just throws a 404 error.

hmm… just checking possible issues…

  • why do you install such an old version? (I mean 1.16 is not “old old”… but it from August last year)
  • did you install some custom certificates (for Plex or your QNAP)?
  • do you get the same result when accessing Plex through https://app.plex.tv/desktop

Did you ever get this resolved? I just started getting this error.

Nope. Not ready for prime time yet.

Please install 1.19.5.

It contains the new PlexData share support. – makes getting log files (which I will need to see) to help here.

after installing, give it a minute then replicate the issue.
stop plex
capture the logs (ZIP / tar.gz) and upload here. I’ll look.

I have 1.19.5 installed on my qnap but I can’t get in to it. This is the screen that I get in firefox and a similar one in chrome.

I stopped it as you said, but I don’t know where to go to get the logs.

If it makes any difference I’m running a qnap TVS-473e. The 1.19 was a fresh install from plex and not the qnap install with updates after trying a delete, reboot, then fresh install from qnap. Same issue either way.

Secure connection issues:

  1. Are you using your own certificate ?
  2. Are you forcing HTTPS on the QNAP?

FYI: RFC-1918 addresses (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, and 172.16.x.x - 172.31.x.x) are not publicly routable. They only exist inside our LAN. Nobody can get to them.

Yes to both. Certificate (obtained through qnap) is valid until next year and I have the box checked for forcing HTTPS.

Additionally, I have two port forwards setup one for the nas and one for PMS which is on the nas.

Everything has been working fine until yesterday. I updated the nas to 4.3.3.1354 but the release notes show nothing to do with plex other than the removed support for plex home theater (predecessor to PMS, correct?) from hybrid desk station which I don’t use.

I’ve read some of the advice you have given to others and I have deleted all authorized devices and tried opening in an ingognito window and I get the same error.

Fixed it,I think. I opened up another app which shows the nas ip and a port number on the tail end but it didn’t have https in the beginning of the address so I deleted it in the plex address and it opened and found the server and added the libraries. They are now rebuilding so I should be good to go.

Excellent. You went where I was taking you.

Be certain to add your cert to PMS so it knows what’s happening

(Settings - Server - Network - Show Advanced )

QNAP’s, historically, don’t like HTTPS on the LAN side.

QNAP runs fine on the LAN with HTTPS.

Thanks, Chuck. I couldn’t find the file location for the certificate and dug around and found that the certificate I secured through qnap does not work for an ip address, only the myqnapcloud feature. I have added a bookmark to the plex ip sans the https so I should be able to connect at will.

Just curious, how long does it take a library to rebuild? I have about 400 movies on my server and it seems to be stuck (showing only 8 movies so far) for the past hour. It appears that the system is working.

Never mind, just after I sent that last post I looked again and all the movies are there and now all the posters are flipping so I think it’s almost done.

Movies populate quickly.
Final metadata takes a while. (CPU and Internet dependent).

The new scanner will do 700 in about 7 minutes
