I use a WD-TV player (Western digital) with a USB attached. My media files are in the disk. Mostly movies and series in 720 and 1080 resolution.
I changed the WD-TV with a Plex server in a laptop attached to the TV. Same as the WD-TV player. Now the same USB disk is attached to the laptop and I run the plex media player.
My problem us that the quality of the video was much better with the WD-TV than the plex although the plex setting is in “original quality”.
Any ideas about that ?
thanks in advance
How are you playing the files on Plex via the laptop? If it’s a web browser it’s possible Plex is transcoding the files for compatibility. I think a lot of folks would wonder why you’re using Plex for playback at all if the files are directly available to the laptop, instead you could use Kodi or VLC which are usually considered better software video players.
I do not use a web browser, I use the Plex media player.
The reason I use plex is to stream the same content in other TVs in the premises
In fact I just noticed that the laptop quality is lower in general.
I tried vlc, Kodi, Plex players. The image is more blurry from the laptop. The WDtv image is more sharp. Like it is in higher definition.
The Laptop connection is HDMI, same as the WDtv
