If a person signs up for a PLEX account, then sends me their PLEX username (not email address), can I invite them without my email address in the invite?
In other words, in this case, will it simply add them to my server without the invite email?

i think the email invites come from PLEX, not the admin.
but yes, you can add by username without the email address.
AFAIK the person getting an invite will still get an email to approve they want to join your server. (they can ignore it, and it will show pending in your users lists)
edit: i found an old invite to a friends server, it shows their email in the invite, but the email itself is from plex.
Hi there!
You’ve been invited by someone@yourfriend.com to share some media in Plex. To accept the invitation and view your friend’s media, click the following link: I accept the invitation.
Thanks for the response.
What I am concerned about is that the PLEX email will contain my email address. I would rather it use my PLEX user name.
understand.
I don’t know if my friend had a username or not, when the invite was sent.
You could create a new separate junk/test plex user on an alternate email, invite that user to your server, and see exactly what it shows.
all that said, if you don’t know someone well enough to comfortably provide your email, perhaps you shouldn’t be sharing your server?
You make a very good point in your last sentence.
Thanks for the input though, much appreciated.
The invite will have your email. I idea is that the user receiving the invite might not recognize the username of the person inviting them, but they should recognize the email.
Exactly.
