Question -> Need local PMS when using MyPlex?

With the new MyPlex on plexconnect do you need a plex server running to have it work.  If i go to my friends house and install plexconnect and then have him sign into myplex to see my server will he see it or does PMS need to also be installed on his computer.

In other words do you need

PMS and plexconnect or just plexconnect running?

No local PMS needed.

This will leave you without any channels but myplex will have your personal pms content and shared libraries will populate in the myplex tab.

Ok so no PMS needed. I tried this but it does not show any of my shared library to him. Am I missing something here?

Did you forward port 32400 on YOUR router to YOUR PMS?

I have no problem at home. Just at his house. Set up Apple TV with latest plexconnext. Have home sign in. No myplex. No library’s.

He can see my shared library from his roku. Not from the plex connect. Also mine is ported to 32769. Do I need to change something in the plex connect code.

Check your logs... after signing into MyPlex, PlexConnect should trigger a new discover. You should see...

- the MyPlex XML with your home server addresses and stuff...

- a line stating something like "Servers found (local + MyPlex): "

Ok I will check tonight.
