Random Xbox One X Crashing

Server Version#: 1.13.8.5395 (Centos)
Player Version#: Plex for Xbox One 2.19.4.70

I am experiencing random crashing. Typically this happens when starting the Plex App on my xb1x and choosing a home user. It will crash / exit. I have also experienced this happening with normal use. One time it happened twice when moving to the shows section for no apparent reason. I have no idea what is going on and only experience this issue with the Xbox One X. Is anybody else experiencing this or is it just me? It almost makes using the xb1x unuseable for Plex. Z

Yep, same. Only started in last few days.
I think it is console related, as the dash always resets itself too but i dont remember a recent console update.
X1X also.

Yes since the last update (>1 week ago) I’ve had two types of crashes.

  1. Crashing at Launch (Large logo, small logo, crash)
  2. Crashing shortly after launch when moving to the right to get to Live TV

X1X Scorpio Edt

Seems to be getting worse and worse. Plex seriously needs to check this app out. Im about to just scrap it for an Apple TV or some pi based plex app.

Yes I am experiencing the same issue. I am an Xbox insider Alpha Ring and this started after the last Xbox update. Seem like Plex always has issues when a new update comes out.

This is happening to me everytime I turn my Xbox on.

  • Crashing at Launch (Large logo, small logo, crash)

And it’s not just once. Sometimes I have to try and open Plex seven or eight times before it finally loads properly and doesn’t crash.

Any official comment on this to at least confirm you’re aware of the issue would be appreciated.

At present it’s genuinely almost unusable.

Yeah. It seems to have gotten worse for me as well. Yesterday I had to keep starting Plex on the XB1X over and over again until it finally worked. Hopefully someone is looking into it. Everybody I know who has an XB1(S/X) has this problem. There seems to be a major problem with the XB1 app.

Same thing has been happening to me on my X for the past couple weeks.

I have an issue with the plex xbox one app crashing my plex server when someone tries to fast forward or rewind.

Same here. Xbox One X. Since my other option is my LG TV, which has a serious and consistent buffering issue, I’m pretty bummed right now. Don’t want to have to buy a roku just for Plex.

I’m experiencing the exact same problem as well and have been for several weeks. Sometimes I can start the Plex app and it’s fine, but the majority of the time it crashes to the dashboard within ~15-20s of starting up. It consistently crashes if you just launch the app and don’t do anything at all, so it’s unrelated to streaming video/audio at all. I’m using an Xbox One X in the Alpha Skip Ahead Insider Preview as well.

One interesting thing I have found is that if I uninstall the app, reinstall it and link it to my server again, I can use the app successfully a few times before it gets progressively worse until it’s completely unusable again.

I don’t have issues with any other apps, so this seems to be something very specific to the Plex app, which is getting pretty frustrating now :-/

I have a interesting symptom, when I use Plex Player at the Xbox one X as the me ( Admin ) and I want change at the new 2.22.0.70 dashbord from home to movies or tv-show then the APP is crash/Closing.
When change to movies or tv-show and bevor it show one of the sub solders and I press very fast (A) then I can enter the first Folder. withouth crashing, when I go back then it crash again.
Now to the funny part, I have make a secound user no plex pass just a plain one, I have invite the other me, with all media folder rights. and with this Basic user the Plex Player is not crashing any more. I think it is some bug for privilidge ( admin ) or plex pass users. It woudl be very nice if you could Rollback to the old version but this power have only PLEX now.

Edit: I have test it on my 2nd Xbox One where still version 2.18.3.70 was installed everything worked well, then I upgrade to version 2.20.0.70 to exclude it was only on my Xbox One X and again it crashed. so if you can stop the upgrade do so else you will need to make for you self a secound account to watch

I’m also having this same issue. Hoping it will get fixed soon

Not sure if this is related, but I’m running v1.14.0.5470 and I know that Xbox just released a new version yesterday, but since that upgrade, I’m experiencing a strange issue on my Xbox.

Plex opens fine, but whenever I navigate to the movie or video home pages, the app crashes. Every time. TV and music is fine and actually plays as usual with no issues.

At first I thought that maybe there was a corrupt media file that could be the culprit, but the fact that this happens on Videos as well as Movies nullifies that theory.

The thing I come back to is that the Plex app doesn’t like something with the Xbox system update.

Sick-ice do you know when Plex plan on fixing this issue or any one from Plex want to help. It seems like the issue maybe be with Plex pass. So cancel it and it should work.

First I’m not a employe of Plex so I can’t tell you when it will be fixed or rollback to the last working Version. And not Need to cancell the Sub. just do like me, singup with a different email then invite youself with the new email to you Server, then logoff and Login with the new eMail, you will not have the Plex Sub Screen but everything will work normal again. Do it until them have released a new update.

I have a greate Idea how it might speed up the relaease of a new fixed update.
We all should Report this APP to Microsoft ( over the xbox ). just go to you shop look for plex then go down and there you find the button to “Report the App” this will make Microsoft to act too and push on Plex to fix it faster

I have reported it to microsoft through the console. I’m hoping this gets fixed soon, it’s very frustrating! Sometimes I’ll load, crash, load over and over again like 10 times in a row.

I have also reported it, I really hope it gets sorted soon

Shouldn’t Plex be getting a ton of crash reports from MS? FWIW, I’m having the same issue with my X.
