Rasplex 0.5.0 - Issues and Feedback

Issue 4: I have 4 users setup, 2 are "Managed" and two "Existing" (one of those existing, being the "Master" account).  I'm wondering if the only user that shows up is this user, because of my issue 1,2 and 3.

Sorry, forgot to mention in original response, when you have the Master account selected, are you logged into MyPlex?

No, I can't log into MyPlex until after I enter the Master account PIN (only option) and then disable/enable connection through the System menu.  At that point, myplex signs in and my content shows up.  So lets back burner that issue until the first ones are figured out :)

New to this plex world and amazed by the work you do. I'm facinated when small devices produce run great software.

Tested the new version and would like to inform about the following regression.

For some reason playback for wtv files does not work anymore. Pasplex displays a red "unsupported message in lower right corner".

wtv worked well on 0.4.1 and 0.4.1 still works with server 0.9.11.7.803....

wtv files are a product of windows media center recordings from live tv.

Keep up the excellent work!

Have you purchased licences for the raspberrypi.org codecs, if so did you previously add them to your config.txt file - check the contents of the config.txt file to see if the licence info is still there.

Regards

Nope, no configuration at all. 0.4.1 image works out of the box, no custom configurations.

According to this article http://thedigitallifestyle.com/w/index.php/2012/08/27/video-windows-media-center-recored-tv-files-playing-on-a-raspberry-pi/ you need the licences to play .wtv files.

Unfortunately I don't have any .wtv files to test.

Regards

Sorry for the delay in getting back, I have now tested the wtv (MP2) file you PM'ed me on version 0.5.0.

As I thought you need an MP2 licence to play .wtv files available from raspberry.org, easy to install just follow their instructions.

I played the file with a licence applied, played no problem (nice looking burger!), playing the file without the licence gives the message 'Unable to play media'.

Licence costs £2.40 from http://www.raspberrypi.com/license-keys/

Thanks ned, appreciated. I'll go for that solution. Have to admit that it still puzzles why 0.4.1 worked out of the box.

Can't really say as Raspberry Pi's have never played MPEG2 files without the licences, that why they released them, ah well!

Is there a chance that the upgrade to 0.5.0 has removed my mpeg license as I am getting the unable to play message on my .ts files.

Somehow my rasplex 0.50 (also 0.41) is still not playing HEVC. It does work on tablet and in browser. However rasplex is not playing says its an unsupported format. Not beeing afraid to change config via SSH what would I need to do to make sure its forced to transcode HEVC like it says in the 0.50 release notes?

Thanks

Check the config.txt file which is where the licence code is.

After updating to 0.5.0 on two units, I seem to be having issues signing in to PLEX.

Issue 1: Every once and a while, I'll go to "System Settings" -> "Connections" and nothing will be listed...

Issue 2: After assigning a static IP address to the interface, I don't seem to be able to access any of my content, only the "Search" option appears

Issue 3: After changing the IP assignment back to dhcp, it instantly signed into PLEX and accessed my media.  After reboot, my content shows up but it's unable to sign in to plex (going to "System Settings" -> "Connections" and Disable/Enable the eth0 interface is a work around for this, but often after leaving the "Connections" screen... Issue #1)

Still trying to help with this, go to 'System Settings' -> 'Network' -> 'Advanced Network Settings' -> enable 'Wait for network before starting XBMC and set 'Maximum Wait Time (Sec)' to 10.

Looking in some of the other forums there are people with other clients who seem to have this problem, specifically when using Plex Home, no definitive answer has been posted yet, I'll keep my eye on what's happening.

You could try assigning a specific IP address for your Pi in your router settings, that way it will never be assigned to another device on your network (I have all of mine set this way), I would also suggest not specifying an IP address manually in Preferences, Network, Media Server.

Any chance you can post a short sample from the file so we can have a look.

On previous version (0.4.1) I would set Remote play to 4 MBS. After upgrading to 0.5 all files fail to play when this is set. If I change to DirectPlay the videos work without issue.

The Rasplex is in a different location then the server so I had set Remote to 4mbs due to network speed. Has anything with remote play changed since 0.5?

Well tried it with a sample and also Uknown codec: HEVC error. Check this video on elecard.com site:

 http://www.elecard.com/assets/files/other/clips/140803_1080p_hm130_4s_sao_dbf_qp27.265

Plays fine in browser but not with Rasplex 0.50. I do see there is a lot of isues with HEVC on web so its broader pb than just rasplex.

I set the delay to 10 without any success.  I'm going to increase and continue trying.  I'll report back here if I find anything worth mentioning.

Great work as usual !

My experience with this version.

1) A minor problem I had with autoupdate. I did’nt recognised the new Version at all caming from 0.4.0 rc 4. I skipped 0.4.1. This is no big Problem, I just flashed a second SD.

2) More serious: starting with 0.4.1 Posters are not build. Just a very Little few. All other have the Default orange “>” on black background. I know, this is maybe a PHT problem an off-topic in this forum, but: a) I don’t find any issue like this in those Forums, B) All my Windows, iphone, android implementations do work fine. How is this postergeneration working and where can I start Troubleshooting? Can I force rebuild of posters?

3) Last but not least a question conserning CEC. My remote is very limited in CEC enabled Buttons. I have just arrows, OK, Back and the four colored Buttons. I want to have one of the colored Buttons to Show the playing Screen. That one wich has the stopp, Play Forward and backward Buttons. In pht this one can usualy Access throw the Icon in the lower left Corner. My question: What is the CEC command Name? I tryed several diffent one with no success.

Thank you very much

Please excuse my bad english.

I too have the same issue. My Windows Plex Server is at a different location on a different subnet. If I use anything other than DirectPlay all files fail to play on RasPlex 0.5.0. 0.4.1 was fine and Windows Plex Clients are also fine.

However, using DirectPlay with poor internet speeds means that high bit rate files buffer every few seconds. I've tried with the buffer set to maximim, but that doesn't fix the issue.Transcoding to a lower bit rate is the needed fix.

Same here, I just upgraded to 0.5.0 and I'm not able to play my HEVC encoded files.

It seems that this issue is related to ffmpeg. When I disable ffmpeg avio in advanced video settings, my hevc files play back well.

I tried editing the raspberry Pi xml profile on my server. I added aac_latm to the list of audio codecs under the mpegts section but it still tries to transcode and can't play. Not sure what I'm doing wrong? I know the Pi can play these files as they worked in raspbmc.

I have a similar issue. I have my local set to 4 Mbps (slow network connection to the Pi), and the transcoding worked on 0.4.1, but it produces an error on 0.5 ("unable to play media). I inserted a SD card with 0.4.1 and I can play transcoded movies without any issues. Direct Play will start to play the movies - albeit with major stuttering - but the transcoding on 0.5 won't even start to play movies.
