RasPlex 0.5.1 released - issues and feedback

All works great except on startup on both of my Pi2s it has the following:

/sbin/init: /etc/init.d/11_udevd: line 27: can't create /proc/sys/kernal/hotplug: nonexistent directory

However it seems to start up and play everything fine except some judders on HD TV / Films

Is this important? Any way to fix the judders?

Have you turned off FFMPEG AVIO?

Both have it turned off, have tried on and off. Doesn't happen on all HD videos just some?

Does the line 27 issue mean anything?

Yes, you can ignore it, it'll be gone in the next release.

What' the bitrate of the movies you are having problems with?

New RPi user! Installed second go - Samsung Evo 16gb didn't work at all.. or with NOOBS

Works great and seems to play everything I have chucked at it direct play  and passes though 5.1 Audio which is what I needed  - Amazon fire doesn't do that.

wow thanks..that was easy like hell :D

Rasplex runs much better on Raspberry Pi 2, but OpenELEC 5.0.3 a lot faster :-)

Are there any differences between Berryboot and direct install on SD Card?

When installed under BerryBoot the OS kernel functions are provided by BerryBoot.

This is necessary to allow multiple OS images to run in isolated virtual filesystems stored on a physical medium common to all of them (either the same SD card BerryBoot boots from or an external drive).

So if future RasPlex versions depend on specific kernel function changes or additions beyond what BerryBoot provides, those dependencies could break. The same applies to any OS image used under BerryBoot, so it's not specific to RasPlex.

Another difference is the simple fact that all internal data files of RasPlex under BerryBoot, including custom skins and media posters and thumbnails etc are all handled inside the virtual filesystems mentioned above, rather than being stored directly on the physical filesystem of the SD card, as would be the case for a non-BerryBoot RasPlex system. This difference can affect the speed of some operations.

If i go into system settings and change language to something else - and timezone ect. it changes ok....  but if i remove the power - and then reboot - the changes are lost and i'm back to default

This problem is usually related to CEC. For example if my tv is french based, it seems like the PI thinks its english and puts back PHT to english whenever I retstart. So there is a configuration item where you disable having same language between tv and PHT.

Stupid me, forgot write protect was on.  <_<

Loaded 0.5.1. Onto SD and booted.

Works perfectly. Well happy!

Just need to learn how to edit whatever it is to reprogram some buttons for my CEC controlled telly.

Any tips?

Have a look at this post https://forums.plex.tv/topic/92902-how-do-i-configure-an-ir-remote-lircmapxml/?p=841628 and then try a search in Rasplex, there have been several helpful posts over the past couple of years.

Hi all,

Rasplex working great on my Pi2. Only two issues so far.

1) I have a lot of Anime and most of it has Vorbis audio. When I try and play it comes up unsupported codec. Works fine on my Samsung TV Plex app and also works perfectly on Kwiboo's Plex version. Im guessing the codec isn't in the current version, will this be fixed on next release?

2)Doesn't seem to play any media with H264 High Profile above 4.1. Is this a limitation with the Pi2 or the software. I don't have a lot of media with anything above profile 4.1 but a do have a couple.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks I have tried with FFMPEG off.

When I turn FFMPEG off it starts Transcoding which I don't want it to do, both Samsung Plex and Kwiboo's Plex version will play the media without Transcoding.

Long time lurker.

Firstly, thanks to all who have put all of this together. So awesome :)

Got my Pi2, then installed the 0.5.1 Pi2 release. Everything works sweet, except the generic infared USB / remote combo doesn't work. Works fine on the Pi1 with 0.5.0 installed.

Anything I am missing?

I saw someone above mentioned to check the flirc overlay option is set in config.txt, which I have done. However I was not sure if the flirc was related to my infared usb dongle or not.

Just an update on this, tried different USB ports, re-installed plex clean from the installer (and confirmed using the correct Pi2 image), also tried different sd cards.

Appreciate any suggestions people might have.

Thanks all.

Hey,

nice release. The only issue i have is that the watch status bubble (unwatched/partly watched/watched) does not work automatically. After every TV show i have to mark the video manually.

Other clients (like my Samsung SmartTV) are able to change the status bubble.

I can confirm that all releases of Rasplex automatically update the watched status, have you checked all settings in both Rasplex and PMS itself. I'm sure we would have heard about this from some of our thousands of users if it didn't, failing all else suggest you reflash your card, you may have some corruption.

Sorry I can't offer more to explain why it's not working for you.

Please double-check if RasPlex is signed in to your Plex account when this problem occurs next time, and report the results here again.

I reported the exact same issue a couple of posts ago, only going back to 0.4.1 (same settings everywhere client-wise) “fixed” the problem…
