RasPlex 0.6.0 released - Issues and Feedback

For some strange reason since the 0.6.0 update (TV Directly connect with HDMI to RPI2), im getting a no sound icon at the right top in Rasplex. I tried changing from HDMI to analog and back but it keeps giving me the no sound icon. And yes I also tried rebooting many times, with 0.5.x it worked fine. Any idea? :)

Question on the upgrade -- should I do a clean install, or does the on board upgrade/update process work?  I assume clean upgrade is better -- but if I don't have to reload all my settings and licenses, that would be a benefit.

Thanks!

Do a clean install on this one.  We'll see if the upgrade process works next time.  :)

A clean install would be better, it is a giant leap from OpenELEC 3.x to 5.x, and a few updates in PHT too.

I went into settings, chose update via prerelease. 5 mins later its downloaded, rebooted twice and I'm now on 0.6.0.

no clean install and its great!

Another question.  How well does this release handle movies (mkv files) where the soundtracks are encoded in 5.1 or 7.1 FLAC?

Will it direct play -- or does it need the server to transcode to AAC?  Will the 7.1 channel files were properly?

I ask because under Rasplex 0.5.1 these files were output as 2.0 (stereo) PCM.

Thanks!!

I'm not sure about 7.1 output (I only have a 5.1 system to test with), but I know RasPlex can decode AAC 5.1 and output it as PCM 5.1 streams.  Also haven't got any FLAC files, so can't comment there either.

Please help!!!!

If I plug my Pi directly into my Sony I get AC3 5.1 and PCM support only, if I plug it in via my receiver it handles the audio (PCM, AC3 and DTS).   Forcing the audio to output via HDMI probably won't fix it if your TV wasn't reporting the ability to decode DTS.

oeps i tested something if i delete force command and check tvservice i only have PCM.... if plugin the hdmi cable in the reciver i get PCM,AC3 and DTS and sounds works with AC3 and DTS !!!! my reciver have proligic type of serround he creat's his own 5.1 so i think it always be PCM only lol... sorry for my stupid mistake works here now

I have the same issue with a Samsung TV.

Did you do a clean install or did you upgrade from 0.5?

What Samsung model? I have a UE40ES5500 and CEC is working fine on 0.5.1 and 0.6.0 even after a number of times turning on and off the tv. I do note though that on 0.6.0 rasplex comes out of screensaver a few seconds before CEC kicks in after turning on the tv. ie on 0.5.1 I would turn on the tv, I would see the rasplex screensaver, but as is usual on a Samsung tv the remote does not send CEC remote presses until about 10 seconds have lapsed. Once I press a button rasplex wakes from screensaver (in my case the "dim" screensaver) and I can navigate PHT. On 0.6.0 the screensaver disables early, before buttons register. Not an issue at all, but might be related to the problem you're seeing?

Thanks for the info. I have an older model LE40C630. After starting the tv, it takes about 5 seconds before untill key presses are recognized. On 0.5.1 I didn't had this issue.

@noben. initially I've made a clean install and then I've tried to update (trying to keep Aeon skin funktionality). Same result/issue with both tries.

Just noticed a possible issue whilst resuming a TV show from paused state.  It continued playing for about a minute, then all of a sudden stopped and jumped out to the episode screen.  It did however allow me to continue from the point at which it'd stopped.  I'll keep an eye on it and see if it does it again.

FWIW this was a clean install.

I was really excited to hear the FF/RW was finally here, So I updated via the UI and all went well and working fine except I can't get FF to work, RW works but nothing when trying to FF.

I already had my lirc.conf & Lircmap.xml setup from the 0.5.1 install. FF didn't work so I tried various IR remote profiles using my Logitech Harmony (including MS MCE which works out of the box) but no joy. I have now clean installed and re-configured my remote but still the same result.

Should this feature (FF/RW) work with all video? Are there any specific setting I may need to alter?

All using direct play.

I am using a Pi 512mb version with a 8Gb class 10 SDCard and a stable PSU.

Plex server Version 0.9.11.16

Any help with getting my FF to work would be greatly appreciated?

I will try with keyboard and CEC when I get time.

Oh and Kudos to the team, working great apart from the above!

EDIT: Actually while further testing, I have noticed the the RW seems to rewind at > X10 speed even when it says X2 and it is extremely hard to stop. If I use IRW to monitor IR keys processed, very few remote key presses get registered while rewinding.

I found a possible issue.  I am watching a mkv rip from my HD-DVD version of Batman Begins (yep -- still have my HD-DVD collection), the video plays fine when I start from the beginning.  This is a VC-1 encode with a TrueHD 5.1 track (getting transcoded to AAC).  However, if I resume from last position, my RPi2 hangs - and I have to power cycle to reset.

Other movies seem to be ok resuming.

I also noticed that the framerate is a rather jerky 30 fps -- even though I have Rasplex set to output 24fps.

Do you have a VC1 key installed?  RPi needs a key for VC1 and MPEG2 codec, most likely PMS is trying to transcode your video if you don't have your keys installed.

Hi, I've just installed 0.6, all looking good (including providing support for my wifi USB dongle which caused the previous version to crash!), except one niggle.  Note this was the same on the previous version, I've only just started playing with Rasplex, I'm hoping it's me who's got something wrong, I thought I'd wait for the new version to see if it worked before starting to ask questions.

I can't seem to "fling" photos from my android phone running plex client.  I believe I'm running the latest version of everything.  I can fling videos without issue, but when I try photos, if the rasplex is in the main menu, nothing happens on the rasplex side.  If I try it when the rasplex is displaying a photo, I can sort of get control of the photos to move it onto next/previous from my phone, but it won't synch to show the photo diosplayed on my phone.

This is actually one of the things I really wanted to be able to do, so when friends/family are around I can easily navigate photos, find something I want to show them, and display it on theTV.  It's probably the only thing stopping me investing in a dedicated low power plex server rather than running it from my main PC which isn't always on.

Any assitance much appreciated! This is supposed to be supported functionality isn't it?

Everyone seems very focussed on movies here, perhaps I'm the only one who uses plex for photos as well :) Anyone got any thoughts on this issue? It's really annoying me!!

This will be fixed in the next release, it's only just been fixed in PHT1.3.7.
