When I first did an in-rasplex upgrade, after reboot, cec would stop working after a few seconds.
I formatted the SD card and re-installed using getrasplex, started to go through setup, and cec stopped after a few seconds. I was able to complete setup using the ipad app as remote.
When CEC isn't working, I can ssh in and run cec-client -m, and see the keypresses from my remote, but rasplex doesn't respond.
After running "killall plexhometheater" a few times, cec seems to be working reliably, if not smoothly. Every 5-10 seconds it stops responding to events for 2-3 seconds, but it does seem to be caching them and they will all play at one when it recovers.
I did download 0.6.0 using GetRasplex. For the install onto my Pi 2, I selected "Raspberry Pi2" under "Step 1", "0.6.0" under "Step 2", and selected "0.6.0.img.gz" under "Select Image File". I just tried the SD card write again and still get stuck at the square color test pattern when I start it up.
When I tried this earlier with a Pi B, I selected "Raspberry Pi" under Step 1, along with the appropriate version and image file, and everything worked fine. I'm not sure why my Pi2 isn't working with RasPlex, but the same Pi2 and SD card work fine using Raspbian, so I don't think it's a hardware problem.
It's possible that your trouble relates to a limitation of an old version of the GetRasPlex utility, in that it uses the same filenames for RPi1 and RPi2 downloads.
This means that anyone downloading both versions in the same session, without renaming either file or downloading to different folders, will then end up with just a single file, as the second download will silently overwrite the first one. And there is no indication in the filename as to whether it is an image for the RPi1 or the RPi2.
That limitation has been fixed in a later version of the utility, so that it always uses the full proper filename, such as "RasPlex-RPi.RP-0.6.0.img.gz" or "RasPlex-RPi2.RP-0.6.0.img.gz", but unfortunately this version of the utility is not yet available for download from the RasPlex home page. So those taking "GetRasPlex" from that page still get the old version with this limitation. I believe the new version of the utility has been delayed due to a minor glitch in its design which causes an irrelevant error message to be displayed after each use (this is an error message from Windows, which incorrectly believes that the utility should have installed a Windows program).
All of the above has been reported by me in the RasPlex beta group and it will all be fixed eventually.
But in the meantime you need to be aware of the filename limitation of the old utility, and take care to rename each file directly after download, so as to make its name reflect its RPi1 or RPi2 nature. Alternatively you can use the beta of the new installer which I'm attaching to this post. Just be aware that after using the Windows version of this installer, as you exit the program, there will be an irrelevant error message from Windows about a failed install. This message can safely be ignored as it appears just because the OS has misunderstood the purpose of the program (due to some incorrect option during the installer build process).
NB: As yet betas of the new installer are only available for Windows and 32-bit Linux. The Windows version will work with either 32-bit or 64-bit systems but the Linux version may be tricky to use with 64-bit systems (I couldn't test it on 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04, though it works fine on 32-bit Ubuntu 14.04).
!!!!! Oooops !!!!! Fatal site error
Unfortunately I am unable to help you with the attachments as I stated above, as the site is not permitting me to make any useful attachments.
The attachment section of the message editor states:
You can upload up to 855.03KB of files (Max. single file size: 855.03KB)
And that tiny size is of course insufficient for either one of the two installer binaries.
So apparently the site admins have decided to prevent us from providing this kind of help...
I was really excited to hear the FF/RW was finally here, So I updated via the UI and all went well and working fine except I can't get FF to work, RW works but nothing when trying to FF.
I already had my lirc.conf & Lircmap.xml setup from the 0.5.1 install. FF didn't work so I tried various IR remote profiles using my Logitech Harmony (including MS MCE which works out of the box) but no joy. I have now clean installed and re-configured my remote but still the same result.
Should this feature (FF/RW) work with all video? Are there any specific setting I may need to alter?
All using direct play.
I am using a Pi 512mb version with a 8Gb class 10 SDCard and a stable PSU.
Plex server Version 0.9.11.16
Any help with getting my FF to work would be greatly appreciated?
I will try with keyboard and CEC when I get time.
Oh and Kudos to the team, working great apart from the above!
EDIT: Actually while further testing, I have noticed the the RW seems to rewind at > X10 speed even when it says X2 and it is extremely hard to stop. If I use IRW to monitor IR keys processed, very few remote key presses get registered while rewinding.
Thanks to the developers for their continued efforts and to those helpful folks on these boards who provide such expert advice.
I am having this same issue with my IR HP MCE remote.
How can I remap the FF and RW keys on the remote so they're received as "F" and "R" by the Pi? I have the RPi2.
I did figure out how to override the default location for lircd.conf and was able to disable the power button by editing that file but this is a lot more complicated... any help, clues or hints would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: When I try to edit the Lircmap.xml I get the following error when I try to save - "Lircmap.xml" Read-only file system - Can anyone clue me how to override this or how to change the default location for Lircmap.xml so I can put it somewhere I can edit it where it will get read by the system?
Installed 0.6.0 clean install. Starts fine and goes through setup. However when I try and restart Rasplex it hangs on the initial screen ( "RasPlex (official) - Version: RP-0.6.0" )
It will stay like this until I cycle the power at which point it says that it can't mount the volume etc.
After finding ClubLife's resolution was a dodgy SD card adapter I have tried 2 different adapters, 2 different SD cards and 2 different laptops (in case the card reader was to blame) in every possible permutation but I get the same issue each time. I've even tried installing 0.5.1 again, setting up, restarting to confirm it doesn't have the issue (which it doesn't) and then upgrading to 0.6.0 from within RasPlex but I still get the same issue. Is anyone else having the same issue/able to shed any light on it? Is there anything I can provide too help you?
I'm not sure if I can get logs for this - once the issue has happened it doesn't complete the restart so can't SSH in to the device, and if I try and if I put the SD card into my PC to read the files, the partition I need to access doesn't show up - I can see it using fdisk -l on my ubuntu laptop, but can't access it and doesn't show at all on Windows.
On a side note, I did notice that when using 0.6.0 (before trying to restart and losing it) that it definitely seemed slower than 0.5.1 - noticeable delays when opening libraries/seasons, and also seems a bit clunky just changing the fanart in the background when just sitting on the home screen.
Still sounds like the SD card is corrupt, this will cause the slowness and clunkiness (is that a word) and failure to reboot. Try preparing the card on a different machine.

The important part is once you have selected 'Download' and the download completes, select 'Write SD card' without quitting the app and it will write the correct version to the SD card.

Place your revised lircmap.xml file in /storage/.plexht/ Assuming your revised file has the correct mappings Rasplex will use this rather than the default file.

Have you checked the CEC settings on both your amp and TV, manufacturers implement CEC differently which can cause this kind of problem.
Try plugging the Pi into the TV directly and check whether CEC works correctly using the TV remote, if so then the problem is how the TV and Amp communicate with each other.

I will try this as a troubleshooting step, but it worked 100% of the time through the same port on the receiver with 0.5.1 on the Pi2, and on all previous versions on my Pi1 B.
I have my Pi connected to my (LG) TV directly. Same setup/settings as with 0.5.1 where everything regarding CEC worked great. Now with 0.6.0 I have to manually reboot my PI every time I put my TV on because the CEC doesn’t connect.
Is there anything I can do to help track down this bug?
This is the actual first useful version of RasPlex. Finally! Thank you!
Steven_D I think you will find many of us have been running previous version just fine, and i find your statement rather rude, I wonder what the D stand for in your name......

Thank you, Ned, It does override the default file - I reversed the up and down buttons to verify.
I can not, however, figure out the syntax for remapping the KEY_REWIND and KEY_FORWARD buttons to the desired action, that is to actually fast forward and rewind. I tired KEY_REWIND and KEY_REWIND with no joy as well as and - If anyone knows the syntax, or where I would look to find out, it would be greatly appreciated if you would share it with me... or if I need to do something entirely different.

Thank you for the suggestion, Ned, but I did try exactly that. I'm not sure case matters but I tried it both ways... FastForward and fastforward, and Rewind and rewind.

Can you post your lircmap.xml as an attachment and I'll have a look.
Sorry if I missed this somewhere. But, after upgrading to 0.6.0 (via the built in update function) my gpio ir remote control doesn't respond. Has anyone else experience this same issue?

Make sure you have the following as the last line in your config.txt:
Thanks to the dev for the hard work. FF/RW is a must ;).
Just to say that I have the exact same problem as Nibb31. For the moment, I have to set up a 2.0 sound, unless I don't get the sound from the central channel :(
As for him, by the default, I had only PCM 2.0 active when doing a tvservice -a, whatever I set up in preferences.
I noticed after upgrading to 0.6.0 video playback became unstable and would freeze periodically. I used a fresh install. The problems went away when I swapped cards back to 0.5.1 on the same RPi2. I compared settings and noticed "Use FFMPEG AVIO for Network transport" was checked in 0.6.0 but not in 0.5.1 so I unchecked it and, so far, all the playback problems on 0.6.0 went away.
I also noticed that Wireless Networks are disabled by default so it can't be defined during initial setup.
