RasPlex 0.6.0 released - Issues and Feedback

Thank you... Here is a link to the unmodified file:

http://patches.rasptools.com/Lircmap.xml

Thanks again for your help.

I have no idea why the link changes when you click on it but it's an obvious fix on the URL line.

I meant your modified file you are trying to get to work.

I meant your modified file you are trying to get to work.

The working file has been posted below

I cannot configure hyperion.config.json. If I upload the file to /storage/.config the leds stays off. If I remove /stotage/.config/hyperion.config.json, 46 leds working fine only because /etc/hyperion.config.json is configured to 46 leds.

I have 94 leds.

Back to 0.5.1 and CEC ok.

Well, have to wait until 0.6.1, and give it a try.

And as dex222 already noticed, initial setup with wireless network seems to be missing in 0.6.0. Hope this feature also returns in 0.6.1.

Awesome update, thanks so much guys! So far, Rasplex hasn't crashed once as opposed to 0.5.1. CEC is working flawlessly for me.

However, I use Rasplex and the "Watch Later" feature to watch Youtube videos on my TV. I usually add them to the Plex queue on both Android and iOS, since the Youtube browsing and searching is much faster in the native Youtube apps. I have observed the following:

  • Flinging a Video already in the queue from Android/iOS to Rasplex (starting a video already in the queue from Android/iOS remotely), Rasplex' wheel starts spinning but then nothing happens. Rasplex fails in ~80% of the cases. Repeated flinging of the same video may result in a success.
  • Navigating Rasplex and starting any video on the "Watch Later" deck only plays the latest one added to the queue, regardless whether that video has been watched or not.
  • However, navigating Rasplex to older, already watched videos and trying to start them, the spinning wheel behavior shows up again. I think I wasn't able to play a single video that way.
  • The combination of the above sucks because I might already have a specific video in the queue and then cannot simple add the same one as unwatched again; trying to work around the issues.
  • Once I did manage to start a Youtube flick, the playback is "choppy" in fast scenes; sometimes there are even line off-sets (e.g. the bottom third of the screen seems to be a couple of frames off and lagging behind).

Any ideas? Do tell me if you need more info. Thanks so much

Tom

Edit: Added the last bullet.

Edit 2: Clarified 2nd bullet

Read the release notes, if you can't be bothered searching look in first post or here https://github.com/RasPlex/RasPlex/releases/tag/0.6.0

Sorry.

Thanks!

The vast majority of my video content is encoded in webm (vp8/ogg) format.  Prior to switching to RasPlex I was using RaspBMC with some plex-addon.  RaspBMC was able to natively play webm content.  RasPlex (or maybe it is the Plex Media Server dictating) won't play webm files natively and transcodes.

Is there any way around that?

webm (vp9/opus) is the upcoming format because like h.265, vp9 offers approximately twice the compression with the same quality... although Google has not really optimized the encoding yet... so it takes forever to encode to vp9-based webm... but eventually that will change.

Anyway, it would be great if RasPlex could support .webm natively.

I'm having a strange issue..

Just bought a Rpi 2 and installed Rasplex 0.6.0 fresh, installed a Flirc USB IR controller with it and it works great. after a few hours of inactivity the Pi enters some kind of sleep mode or deep sleep mode and I can't recover from it. Only way to get rasplex going again is to pulling the power cable and rebooting the Pi.

Didn't ever have this problem on my old Rpi model B with 0.5.X install, anyone else experiencing this? might be something in Rpi 2 ? I have no idea. But thought I migt post here first and see since I can't find anything about it on the web.

I really need to get rewind and fast forward to work from the MCE IR remotes... I've gone as far as I can and it's putting me behind schedule.  Can anyone recommend or point me towards someone for hire who may be able to get these features working?  As impressed with the work done and as appreciative as I am to the developers I am a bit taken aback that it's not supported "out of the box"

I attempted to reach the chat room however it's either down or the link I followed is bad.

Then you obviously don't want any more help from me. I have been living my life today, obviously you have little patience.

I greatly appreciate your help Ned.  Thank you.  It's commendable that you take any time out of your life to help the less experienced folk on here like me.  I'm thankful for any avenues of pursuit you might suggest.  At this point I do admit to a certain amount of frustration... yet here I still am pounding away at it... still.

Thank you again, Ned, for looking into my issue with the remotes.

just setting up 0.6.0 and I cant save my manual ip address setup. on clicking the save button it just returns to DHCP.

Any ideas?

I got the Fast Forward and Rewind to work with the MCE RC6 (HP) IR remote... yay - Thank you Ned, dlanor and everyone who's helped and offered suggestions.  The Fast Forward works great but I still need to do more research on the Rewind - it seems to be going much faster than indicated but at least the button works and it's going in the right direction.  If others have had problems with their IR remote this may help.  Simply install the attached text file as:

                       /storage/.plexht/userdata/Lircmap.xml

Lircmap.xml.txt (3.29 KB)

Or from within the /storage/.plexht/userdata/ directory enter:

wget http://www.dexters-lab.us/Lircmap.xml

(The wget file has been edited to disable the power button and to modify to Linux text encoding)

is it possible to jump to a specific time in a movie? OR can I only fost forward using the dedicated FF-buttons?

I noticed when I try the 10 minute jump forward or backward on a remote (over the Internet) transcoded file, it does not work at all.  Those keys on my remote do nothing, but they work locally just fine.

Is this a problem with Rasplex .0.6.0 or PHT in general?

3 major issues found for RPi 2 rasplex 0.6.0:

1. No DTS/DD HDMI passthrough. All sound output converted to PCM stereo. I did enabled all the passthrough options in the audio output settings.

2. Local network video play still playing as transcoded if the settings for the remote server quality is set to transcode, even the Local network play is set to Direct Play.

3. Double keypress on Panasonic TV remote when CEC enabled. This has been fixed in the latest openelec build (5.0.8) and has been plaguing the ever since. https://github.com/Pulse-Eight/libcec/issues/13

And I am back on latest openelec build with plexbmc. :(

Yep, same here. Have a 2010 Viera and have this exact double keypress issue. Also, I couldn't control playback via pause/play etc.

The same remote works (mostly) fine on openelec 5.0.8. This Rasplex glitch caught me by surprise because I assumed it was based on latest openlelec and therefore remote function should be identical.

Other than that, Rasplex looks quite interesting so thank you to the devs.

I get double press on my sharp TV using CEC. Thought it was the remote.

Looking forward to the next update with this fix!
