RasPlex RC2 Issues - Please report feedback here

it's great that you take this issue so seriously but I think I can speak for the other users in this thread (at the very least) that not only is these types of bugs are acceptable in a non stable release of any type of software, the nature of your volunteered work on an amazing free product is very highly appreciated and if anyone has a problem with this or any other bug, they can go screw themselves.
tl;dr:
No worries :)

Not a very nice comment, I personally try to be helpful in resolving issues, I think everyone knows that RC's will have the odd issue, I haven't seen anyone yet that has ranted about the update issue, in fact most comments are trying to help pinpoint the possible cause, which obviously has worked!

Hi,

is it normal that music queues are not available. I'm trying to stream music to my rasplex but both "add to next" and "add up to next buttons are blocked.

I didn't mean to imply that there were people that complain. Quite the opposite, I said that the people here are helpful and understanding and dale shouldn't take this issue with such a heavy heart.

Is the transcoding profile XML updated? is it still to be applied? I know previous threads mentioned it should be rolled into PMS eventually since the RCs have been independent of that I presume its still needed but seems like its still kinda buggy as well, particularly with shared/remote library playback? Should we still be testing this XML(or updated one)?

Hi Guys, here is a new Topic to discuss RC2 issues.

See my Signature for reporting any issues with it.

Also please give feedback on issues already reported in GitHub Issues so that we can confirm wether issues have been fixed or not.

Cheers !

after auto update the rasplex not boot, only show the colors screen and no more .... I try to download the Windows instaler to reinstall manually the SD but the link is broken.

can you repair the link, please?

thanks for rasplex.

Update worked well, RC2 after the update... not so much.

Any attempts to play anything with HDMI passthrough for AC3/DTS result in Please Wait and maybe a frame or two before it hard locks, it was playing 1080p AC3/DTS combo just fine in RC1.  Leaving it to soft decode will let me play the video.  Added my input to https://github.com/RasPlex/RasPlex/issues/208

I tried with the update and with a fresh flash, both versions have the same issues.

If you use HDMI audio passthrough, I would advise against using RC2.

Exactly the same for me. Thanks for the fix. At least I can watch something now without yet another reinstall :-)

Is my problema, the SD has dead.... Problem solved ....

but I has the same error whit the md5 checksum ....

Sorry.

and thanks

Hi all.

I am a neewbie with Raspberry Pi and Rasplex. Make my first installation a few days ago with a nice Class 10 16 Gb sdcard + 1 USB stick 4Gb. Boot on SD Card but Rasplex running on USB Stick.

I try to make the update today, about 3 or 4 times during the day. All stay stuck at 100 % download in the rasplex settings.

I think i find why : all the partition are FULL (USB and SD Card). Its the default partition created by the rasplex installer.

Maybe create some biggest partition for the future release ?, use the full available space ?.

Right now I make a full fresh installation with rasplex installer on both and see what append next.

Maybe i'll try to expand the partition myself to avoid that problem again.

Thx anyway for the BIG job you're doing here. Thanks to the dev team :D

Edit :

Find why the disk are full, its my mistake, I removed the "quiet growstorage" in the "cmdline.txt" file when i edit him.

Corrected.

Running Pi [Version B] with SD [class 4 for boot] and USB [16GB for storage]

Update to RC2 went well for me - no issues. I have auto update set to true so I just needed to restart, wait for about 1 minute with a black screen, and voila. Music working again, time still 1 hour behind but I don't think that was resolved in this release.

Thanks!  :)

Same here. Update to rc2 and so far so good. Great work guys!

Initial feedback for my use of ‘RasPlex 0.4.0 rc2’:

As usual I did not use any auto-update methods, but used “Win32 Disk Imager” to install the downloaded “.img” file and then edit the cmdline.txt and config.txt files appropriately for each setup. This time I made one stand-alone SDcard setup and one using another SDcard in combination with a fast USB3 drive. Both setups work without any major abnormalities, and apart from the higher speed of some operations with the USB3 drive my results for both setups are identical.

1: My first complaint is identical to one I made after testing rc1. Lack of response when entering a section:
Whenever pressing ‘Enter’ to open a section listing from the main menu there is a long delay without any visible indication that the command was accepted.
The length of this delay is proportional to the library section size, but is noticeable even for fairly small sections (eg: my 40-poster section for ‘Charlie Chaplin’ silent movies). After that initial delay the screen blacks out, still without any sensible response indicator, and the screen then stays black for for a delay period similar to the initial one, after which the list screen of the opened section appears.
There should be some visual indication displayed immediately after accepting any command which can lead to long delays without other visual feedback. (IMO a screen blackout halfway through the delay does not count as useful ‘feedback’.)

2: My second complaint is also a repeat from the past. Shutdown does not work:
The ‘Shutdown’ command only performs a soft PHT relaunch. I’ve tried it dozens of times both with a pure SDcard install and my normal setup with a USB3 drive, and it makes no difference. It also makes no difference whether I use the ‘Shutdown’ command after active use of RasPlex or immediately after a reboot (which did make a difference with some earlier versions).
Note that this unwanted relaunch is just a ‘soft’ relaunch of PHT, not a hard reboot (as done by the new ‘Restart’ command which works very well). After a brief screen blackout we go directly to the ‘Ras(raspberry)Plex’ screen, and thence into PHT proper, so we never see the ‘rainbow square’ screen or the initial OpenELEC boot screen, as we would for a hard reboot.

I’m quite surprised at this result since the ‘Shutdown’ command worked perfectly in the WIP version from the 29th…

3: My third complaint is about the clock ignoring timezone:
Currently the RasPlex clock shows 2 hours less than proper local time (and I have set my region as Sweden in preferences).
My timezone is GMT+1, and since we recently switched to DST (sunday night) this accounts for 2 hours difference from true GMT.
I believe this is a bug specific to the RasPlex port, or its underlying OpenELEC OS, since PHT on PC has no such problem.

That’s all for now, but I haven’t had time yet to make any extensive tests, so I may be back with more feedback later on.

Edit:
During the night the timezone error I described above has reversed itself, in two significant steps.
I’m not sure exactly when this happened though as I tested a lot of different things this night.
(Including testing BerryBoot installs both of this RasPlex release and an XBMC(OpenELEC) release.)

At one stage during my various tests I noticed that RasPlex time no longer lagged by two hours, but only by one hour.
This was sometime after midnight, so at first I attributed it to a non-Swedish DST shift for April 1.
(In Sweden the shift is done on the night of the last sunday before April 1.)

However some hours later (now appx 7:15 AM Swedish time) I find that there is no lag at all.

So I’ve had three different time offsets between true local time and the time shown by RasPlex.

1: For several reboot sessions after the initial install I had a consistent lag offset of 2 hours.
2: Sometime after midnight the lag offset was reduced to 1 hour.
3: This morning the lag offset is zero.

Hopefully this was just some weird combination of delayed acceptance of my set timezone (accounts for 1 hour) combined with a mistimed DST shift (accounts for the 2nd hour), in which case it should remain fine now (with a new glitch to be expected when DST ends).

Best regards: dlanor

FYI - download links for OS X at rasplex.com are broken (linking to RC1 on github).  I just changed the link to rc2, and it downloaded.

Same problem here, using HDMI passthrough for AC3/DTS audio. Stuck in "wait" or freezed after few frames, and reboot needed. I had to revert to RC1 to listen AC3 5.1 audio.

Thanks anyway. :)

Yeah, my parents have seen a decrease in remote playback performance (way more buffering) since I installed the transcoding profile. But this is probably an issue for a different thread.

I have the same problem with anything try to instal  on my raspberry pi, wheter it's rasplex or somehing else i try to instal.

Anyway this is how you fix it:

1. open config.txt in the root folder

2. Add "boot_delay=1" to the file and save it.

3. Magic

Hi Guys,

Ran manual update (from 0.4.0-rc1 to rc2) after having continual dropouts on wifi post auto-update. Problem still persists, continually returns I/O / Operation / operation aborted / did not receive a reply. After a couple of attempts to connect it usually drops that wireless network from the list.

Setup was working relatively well under 0.3.X distro. Hope its just an operator error ;).

I'm on rc2 and both DD and DTS passthrough as always, no problem. did you just check the boxes or did you also add "hdmi_force_edid_audio=1" to the config.txt?
