RasPlex RC3 Issues - Please Report feedback here

Alright folks, we've released 0.4.0-rc3 today.

This build is mostly to fixup a number of snafus from 0.4.0-rc2. In particular, this fixes the update loop bug that was quite annoying and troublesome. It should also fix some audio stuttering issues.

See the full release notes in the link.

https://github.com/RasPlex/RasPlex/releases/tag/0.4.0-rc3

You *should* be able to autoupdate to rc3, but if you cannot then you'll have to do a fresh install.

If you find any bugs, please check out our bug report guide at http://tiny.cc/rasplex-bugs

Cheers everyone!

Thanks heaps for all your hard work!

For information.

Two ways to update:

  1. To update go to Preferences > Change Preferences For System > Software Updates > Update Channel > change to PreRelease > Check for update now … Update will download in background. When Update and Restart appears in menu, select and update will start, takes about 5 minutes, Pi will reboot twice.

    Or

  2. Download update from GitHub and reflash SD card using Rasplex installer.

Thanks for all the effort you guys are doing to a release a "bugless" version!

mannnnnnny tnx! for the perfect work!

First of all, I wish to thank you for rasplex! I am new with the raspberry PI although an older plex user and just trying it out for the first time the last 2 weeks.. It works great with a few bugs and restarts but I´m very pleased with it most of the time. One issue that I have across a few files is sound. Sometimes it just drops out for a second or so. I have the latest rc3 as well as latest plex server. I have posted a new bug report in the repository. Hope I got everything right. :)

Is your Pi over clocked?

What is your Cache Size in Network Preferences?

Regards

Thank you for the work

I will try this tonight :)

I had freezing issues with RC1 and RC2 I'm hoping rc3 will fix this. I'm wondering if disabling AUTO UPDATE could be beneficial. as long as I check the forums for updates , my PI won't have to try to do that while I'm watching a video? or does it only try to update while at the menu?

I have noticed that when the new update comes (rc1, 2) out my pi didn't auto update and usually froze.

just my 2 cents this past month I've had more freezes with rasplex than ever before probably about 10 freezes but my pi usually gets about 9 hours of use a day between me and my room mates. class 10 sd card and connected via ethernet. I have been experimenting with the o/c settings so that could have contributed. I'm going back to 700mhz now

But I'm still happy with rasplex its getting better all the time thanks team!

I'm stoked on the queue working!

also is there a recommended overclock setting anyone wishes to share?

and wondering if the rasplex ever down-clocks the pi below 700mhz? if so would disabling this be beneficial?

works great with my overclocked pi. no issues

thanks :)

Thanks for response.
Nope, not overclocked at all. Cache size is 5%.

Suggest increasing cache to 30% and overclocking, suggestions for over clocks that work can be found in the forum! most people try dlanor's settings.

Regards

Thanks, will try cache settings and overclock, but this is 720p with moderate bitrate. Is overclock really needed? Will try ot out anyhow

Sound issues are usually related to the audio CODEC and also to the playback method.

There have been particular issues with AC3 and DTS  5.1 channel sound.

Please state some of the specifics for the files that give you trouble, and for AC3 or DTS sound also state the system audio settings in the preferences menu.

Best regards: dlanor

I'm still having issues with surround sound.

In the audio options if I select anything higher then 2.0 nothing with 5.1 (AC3/DD/DTS) will play. It will hang (rc2) or just wont play at all (rc3)

I have to keep it 2.0 but it wont pass 5.1 through to the amp.

It was happening with RC2 but doesn't happen with 9.9.20 branch.

Any tips?

I am still having issues with Fast Forward and Rewind.  For FF, each button press advances the indicator one level (2x, 4x, 8x, etc), but the video continues to advance at 1x with the audio muted.  RW is the same; each button advances the indicator (2x, 4x, 8x, etc), but the video advances forward (not reverse) at 1x with no audio.  I have tried upgrading from rc2 to rc3 via the rasplex update feature as well as reflashing, with the same results.

FF/RW worked properly for me as recently as version 0.9.9.20, but the issues have been present for me in 0.4.0-rc1, rc2, and now rc3.

Are you sure of this statement ? i'm pretty surprised as this is an xbmc know issue that's documented here http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Raspberry_Pi/FAQ#Raspberry_Pi_known_issues

XBMC on RPi should never had FF / REW support, so i am wondering how this could have worked in 9.9.20.

It's been reported as non working since 0.2 which is pretty old :) https://github.com/RasPlex/RasPlex/issues/33

could you confirm ?
