Goodmorning everybody!
Maybe the wrong topic but i have question regarding this great software for my raspberry pi.
I am very satisfied but is there a possibility to add video airplay (ios7, iPhone)?
No i only have audio airplay and this would be a perfect solution if can also Airplay Netflix.
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance!
I may have found a bug. This will take a minute to explain, so please bear with me. There are several computers, including three running Rasplex, connected to my Plex server. One of the Rasplex units has a wireless connection (yes, I understand why this is not a good idea, but the war department has said there will be no cables run in our bedroom.).
In the past, I have prepared the SDHC card for the wireless unit with the latest release (or release code), and installed it on a Rasplex that has a wired connection. Precache was done there for speed. That unit would immediately recognize that there was a wired connection, and all was well.
I would then install the card in the wireless unit, and change the LAN source to the wireless device. Everything went swimmingly.
Guess what? Unless I'm very mistaken, RC4 won't let me change to the wireless interface. That is, once it has decided the interface is hard wired, it doesn't seem to want to switch over to the wireless connection.
I do not have both connections present at the same time. The unit on which I did the initial installation has no wireless interface present, and the unit with the wireless interface has no wired connection.
Interesting. How do you see that rasplex won't let you change to the wireless interface? how does that present itself?

Netflix uses DRM for Airplay, so it won't work.

Thanks for you answer. Do you know of other solutions? Does XBMC provide solutions for netflix?
Hi,
Great new release. I’ve been using Plexconnect with my Pi mothballed until this release, but was keen to get 24p output up and running. I’m massively impressed with the overall package. Very speedy using dlanor’s usb3 install and overclock settings. I use a flirc ir module with a harmony remote and this is working oob and flawlessly.
My Pi is connected to a yamaha ysp-2200 soundbar by hdmi.
I have noticed that plex isn’t giving me the option of hd audio codec passthrough. I know that with my soundbar I won’t notice a massive difference, but I like to avoid transcoding if possible (and I do like the little blue light that comes on the soundbar when an hd codec is bitstreaming…), is this something other users are experiencing? DTS and Dolby are recognised fine.
I’ve also noticed that the menu “click” sounds aren’t working. TV theme music is working fine though.
Finally, I’ve noticed that Vertical Blank Sync induces stutter with a progressive audio sync delay. I’ve got this turned off now and haven’t noticed any tearing.

HD audio is just not supported for now by RPi firmware... so unless they can fix this, there is sorrowfully not much we can do about this :)
Vblank sync will just overload the CPU in the way xbmc implements this and therefore create stuttering, so that's why we have it default turned off :)
Interesting. How do you see that rasplex won't let you change to the wireless interface? how does that present itself?
I no longer have RC4 installed, but as I recall, it simply did recognize the wireless interface was there. I later tried installing the SDHC card with RC4, and placing that in the same machine with the wireless interface.
This time, it agreed that, yes, I had two wireless networks. However, it did not tell me the signal strength of either. I selected the same one I'd used before sucessfully. It told me that that wireless interface was now connected.
However, the main menu listed all the sources as "SEARCH", and never did come up with the correct names. I'm left with the feeling that the wireless interface in RC4 is just not robust enough for that application. I am reverting to RC3 on that machine. I'll leave RC4 on the wired interfaces.
If some kind of "fix" is found and published, I'll try RC4 (or its successor) on that machine on a future date.
I just want to say that RC4 is fantastic. I almost gave up on Rasplex at the beginning as it was so slow and unreliable but now it is really excellent.
One question though, is it normal to get downmixed strereo from AAC 5.1 sources in RC4? I used to use Raspbmc and they managed to get multi-channel PCM output working so I know it's possible.

Yup that's normal, rasplex does not support 5.1 AAC so it gets downmixed to stereo. There was some talk of getting PMS to convert the 5.1 AAC to 5.1 AC3 (which rasplex does support) but I think it was found not to be possible with current versions of PMS.
Yeah that is right. Multi PCM channel output is afaik only available with gotham which will be the next step.
Thta could be handled with transcoding as well, we'll see how gotham handles it and then check the PMS way if its not acceptable.
Although PMS is being very much worked on, so next versions should be very interesting for us :)
Hi guys, I have noticed a strange issue that has appeared with rc4.
Whenever I play an episode with rasplex, the first one plays smoothly. But if play another episode it always stutters and stop after a few minutes. Then I have to reboot the pi (sometimes two or three times) if I want to play the episode.
Am I the only one with this issue?
For the record, I did a clean install and this issue is still happening ...
Fast Forward and Rewind
I found the following in the RC2 issues forum and since it describes the issue I have exactly, I'll just copy it here:
"Fast forward will show 2x, 4x, 8x, etc. each time I press the FF button, but the video does not advance at higher speeds, it merely plays a 1x but with the audio muted. Rewind does not work either, video still advances forward at 1x even though the display shows 2x, 4x, 8x, etc rewind speeds each time I press the RW button."
Anybody else have this problem?
Other than that, the RC4 is awesome. I am using it instead of ROKU 3.
Keith
Does this happen to you while transcoding or using direct play?

This is a known issue, to be fixed in future PHT / RasPlex releases.

This has been fixed in Gotham, and we will start the merge soon as it has been released. So definitely will be fixed : yes, when : after gotham merge, which is gonna take a couple months :)
Just updated earlier today - love the queued functionality!
Noticing that every so often during playback there's a 'Please Wait' (I think) overlay that will flash up on the bottom right of the screen, the same one that appears when you first play a movie/episode.
I am trying rc4 for my new Plex setup and all seems to go as expected, except my Rii mini bluetooth keyboard dongle is not recognized by Rasplex.
As I've read there can be a number of issues involved, I'm wondering if anyone has actually this setup working, or if there is something I can try/do from my side to get it working?
Other than that, I love this thing! :)
Did it work on previous builds?

Well, we don't really know what you tried already, which makes it hard to know what advice would be relevant.
One thing you definitely should try, if you haven't already, is to enable bluetooth support in the submenu entry:
'System Settings' > Services > 'Disable Bluetooth'
That setting is by default 'ON' disabling bluetooth, so you need to turn it 'OFF' to enable bluetooth.
(The gadget doesn't show 'ON' or 'OFF' as text, but uses a lit or dark LED-like icon.)
Edit: CORRECTION to the above! :
That setting enabled bluetooth when the LED-like icon is lit, even though that is contrary to the usage for all other settings within that submenu. Settings named 'Enable xxx' do enable the xxx feature when 'lit', so the only setting named "Disable xxx" should have disabled the xxx feature when lit, but it doesn't. I suspect this was coded by someone not proficient in the English language. (Since he used 'Disable' and 'Enable' as synonymous.)
Enabling bluetooth services this way may also populate another submenu:
'System Settings' > Bluetooth
That menu is normally empty (as bluetooth is by default disabled), but may be populated when you have bluetooth enabled and a bluetooth device connected. But you may also need to restart RasPlex once after enabling bluetooth, to ensure that the underlying system will recognize the existence of the bluetooth dongle before launch of RasPlex PHT.
Edit: CORRECTION! :
Bluetooth is by default enabled, but the submenu for bluetooth devices is only populated when a bluetooth adapter is recognized.
Even then, I am sure that different brand devices may differ, as may the OpenELEC support for various bluetooth device types. So there is no guarantee that your device will work with any available settings.
Personally I never even tried using bluetooth with my RPi, but your query has awakened my interest so I will try some now. I have a mini keyboard and some headsets using bluetooth, though I've always used non-Bluetooth USB-RF dongles with my RPi, as I have mini keyboards of such types as well. But I'll give the bluetooth devices a try now and see how well they work with RasPlex (if at all...)

You are absolutely right I should have been more precise :(
I tried rc4 'out of the box'. Bluetooth was enabled (although the messages could be a bit more clear about it), and the 'system settings' -> Bluetooth menu says 'no bluetooth adapter found'.
The issue seems to be with Rasplex not recognizing the BT dongle that comes with the keyboard. Just to be sure it worked I tried it on a Windows 7 PC and it does recognize the dongle, so the hardware is ok.
Also, this is the keyboard I'm using: http://www.riitek.com/product_Info.asp?id=80
Thanks in advance for your time testing this, and feel free to ask me to try whatever you think may be useful to try.
(Updated to reflect the exact wording in Rasplex)
