hello again,
just checked the board with a multimeter. 4.87v.
now considering buying a new rpi, just to see ...

4.87v is just over the minimum requirement for the pi. between 5 and 5.25v really made a big difference on my pi.

Updated to rasplex RC4 and I can't watch a single thing from either of my Plex servers.
"Error creating Play Queue - The server was unable to create the play Queue."
Lame. How do I debug this? Which log files should I be looking at?
Edit: Looks like this is caused by the having third party skins/themes installed, forcing us to use the bad default Plex skin.
Which is really really sad because the default skins aren't very nice and I really liked being able to browse through my movies/TV shows and be able to view the descriptions on the fly. Now I must click on each movie/show in order to see the description which is a time killer and sort of sucks.
Can we disable Play Queues so I can re-enable this skin?

This isn't so much because you're using a third party skin, it's a bug in the version of PHT used by Rasplex. You can see it when using the Plex skin if you select something and press Play (as opposed to pressing Select) - same error message. It's fixed in the latest PHT and third party skins work great there.
I think since RC4 came out Rasplex is pretty much as finished and as stable as it can be (pretty close to 100%). From now on, any updates will probably just be to update PHT to major milestone versions.
Just out of curiosity, what skins are you using with Rasplex?

Hey man, thanks for the reply.
I am not exactly sure what you mean. What do I need to do in order to get my ReFocus back? To be honest, this happened with every single skin I tried. Refocus, Metropolitan, you name it. Anything other than the default Plex skin.
The only reason I stuck with RC4 and didn't go back to RC3 is because the stuttering on 1080P videos with DTS is perfect now. Whatever you/they did, it's just great. I couldn't get more than 10 seconds of stutter free playback from the Lego Movie in 1080P, but after updating to RC4 I watched the entire thing without one. single. stutter. I was really shocked at the performance boost in this one.
The only thing that I am a bit upset about is the skins.
Could you explain in a little more detail how you got 3rd party skins to work in the new RC4 version of Rasplex? You say I need to update my Plex Media Server on my PC to the latest version and it should fix this problem? (I am confused about the difference between Plex Home Theater and Plex Media Server..)
Edit: Or wait, do I need to update PHT on my rasplex? Blah im confused....
Thanks again

Yeah it's a bit confusing!
Plex Home Theatre is the official and "preferred" client for connecting to Plex Media Server. It is a fork / spin-off of XBMC and originally began as Mac-only software. These days there are builds for Mac, Windows and Linux. Rasplex is a Linux platform (it runs a variant of Openelec in case you're interested). So Rasplex uses a heavily tweaked Linux build of Plex Home Theatre.
If you were running Windows or Mac then you can easily update PHT to the latest version as soon as it becomes available. But Rasplex does not support the updating of PHT - you need an update to Rasplex itself. The various release candidates have all had slightly different versions of PHT, and RC4 unfortunately has this PHT version with this particular playlist Queue bug.
So we will have to wait until the Rasplex team release a new version (perhaps RC5 or a final release), including a newer build of PHT, before this bug is fixed.
In the meanwhile, how are you controlling your media? Are you using a remote or a keyboard? It's been a few weeks since I tried another skin with rasplex but if I remember correctly I had an issue where pressing the PLAY button on the remote to try to play an episode would trigger that "error creating play queue" message. But if I selected the episode (using the Select button on my Samsung remote) then the episode would play fine. If you have a keyboard hooked up, what happens if you press "enter" rather than "p" (Play)?

Oh I gotcha. So I would need to wait for a new release. Bummer! This RC4 is just so...fast!
I wonder if I can use RC4 with an earlier copy of PHT to workaround this problem for now. I will look at github and see if anything stands out..maybe overwrite the folder...Probably not though.
Im using the Microsoft MCE IR remote, this guy right here: http://www.amazon.ca/Windows-Control-Infrared-Receiver-Ultimate/dp/B003WF0FBO , I tried both ways and still have the same problem.
I didn't try to start videos using the Plex app on my phone, but then that would sort of defeat the purpose of the skin altogether. I just found the ReFocus skin was so convenient. The details screen on the default plex skin is killer..
Anyway, alright well thanks for explaining it to me. I thought for a minute you had RC4 working with third party skins on your Rasplex, but I guess I am not the only one running into this issue, unfortunately.
Thanks again and will use the default Plex skin for now.
Edit: If I could replace /var/lib/plexhometheater with the version from rc3, that would probably do the trick. But that is mounted on a loop device and is completely read only. Bummer
Anyway yeah, I'll just be patient. I guess now with Rasplex being so fast now it's not so annoying to deal with the details screen anymore.

Are you absolutely sure that those skins were designed for use with a modern PHT version ?
I do recognize the names of those skins, but have never heard of them being adapted for modern Plex clients like PHT.
I thought they only existed for the older Plex client PMC.
And PMC skins will not work properly with PHT as-is, since PHT requires a different skin design.
At present very few custom skins have been adapted for current versions of PHT.
Best regards: dlanor
I just realised I had a version of refocus installed as a skin on my Rasplex RC4 installation, I would say I installed it back in the RC1 or RC 2 days. It was definitely working then, but it's not now: I'm getting those play queue errors when trying to play back media (no matter how I try to play it back). Although this skin was at one point updated for PHT it will need further work to be compatible with the latest versions.
However I can confirm that the latest Night and Amber skins are working on Rasplex, so it's just the older skins running into problems. @zstar69 I would recommend trying Amber if you haven't already; performance is good on rasplex!
Hello, on ghitub there's 2 archive, how to install please ? I've a sd card and a usb (from method of dlna).
I have to flash on both with the .img and after copy the second archive ?
Thanks.
Just go to rasplex.com and click get rasplex

I had no idea what PHT really was until recently. All I know is coming from my older version RC3 to RC4 none of my third party skins will work. They worked before pretty well.
I kind of understand it and why it doesn't work, and how it relates to the new PHT bug.
These third party skins didn't have that "details" page (eughhh) in between when pressing OK on the movie and watching the video. The information was shown as you scrolled through your library, so that details page was taken out because...it was an extra step for nothing.
In the third party theme, Refocus for example, pressing OK on the movie I want to watch starts the movie in one shot. No in between page. Even on the default Plex skin, pressing Play directly produces that error. So I am assuming this is happening because the skin creators made the OK function act like the Play button function and skips right to the movie.(Which is essentially like pressing Play on the movie cover in the default skin and producing the same error)
So until that PHT bug is fixed and updated to Rasplex (RC5?), no third party skins will work. (Unless those third party skins have that annoying details page in between)
I hope you know what I mean..and hopefully you guys can rollout another verison with the patched version of PHT that has a fix for this, because I am almost positive this will correct all those problems.
Yes most of those skins worked just fine. Some had some issues, but the Refocus one was somewhat recently updated and I had no problems with it (functionality wise).
Thanks

Cool, didn't see your post.
Will try it out. But I have a feeling these skins you're talking about has a "details" page in between the movie/show and actually playing the video. I really hope I am wrong, because the author of Amber claims its got views like MediaStream !!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the tip. Will report back
Edit:
Ok I installed Amber and I really really like it. Really, really fast and looks clean too. But I think my "theory" is right. Any skin that has the screen from the second picture will work. Any skin that skips the screen from the second picture and goes right to playing the movie doesn't work. This will do for now I guess...But I still find that having to go through that second screen makes me dizzy because all the information in the second screen shows on the main screen lol. Anyway, thanks for the heads up.

Just wanted to drop in and say I've been playing with RasPlex from its initial release and found it just too slugish when I'm used to the MacMini client. No fault of RasPlex. Using on Apple Remote with an IR receiver on the GPIO.
HOWEVER!!!
With RC4, some overclocking as per dlanor's recommendation and setting the local b/w to 20Mb so it transcodes on the server.
I can play BluRay rips on a 52" TV and the GUI is very responsive.
Loving it!!! This is totally awesome and a huge boost in speed. Congratulations and thanks for all the hard work.
Hi guys and girls.
I have been away for a while and last used 0.4.0 rc1. I have been playing with rc4 for the last week or so now and its GREAT :-)
Few things (problems) I have found.
The config.txt file was easily changed after the install using SSH and is now actually running at my overclock settings.
Before doing this I kept trying to do it by taking the SD card out and adjusting the config.txt on my PC but without success. The Pi would always be running at 700mhz.
Anyone thinking they have overclocked by adjusting the config.txt I would check this using SSH and the command "vcgencmd measure_clock arm" mine now reads 950098000 :)
I am aware you are working to fix apple movie trailers but was unsure if you were aware of the Shoutcast problem.
Thanks guys, Keep up the excellent work :D

Are you telling me that changing the config.txt file does nothing??? That kinda explains why I was never able to DirectPlay anything over 20Mbs!!
Can someone confirm this and if so can you link me to instructions on how to SSH in to the Pi and over clock it!

Download putty http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/putty.exe
Put the ip address of your pi into the host name box.
Make sure connection type is SSH and port is 22
Click open
Accept the keys screen that pops up
Login with username "root" and password "rasplex"
type "vcgencmd measure_clock arm"
ip of the pi can be found on the system settings of the pi under sub menu "connections"
vcgencmd measure_clock arm will give you the current speed the CPU is running at.
If you do not have force_turbo=1 set though this will be 700mhz regardless of whether you config settings are working or not
I always have force_turbo=1 set but was still getting 700mhz until I changed the config.txt file through ssh.
There is guide on how to do this at the link below

thanks for the reply, unfortunately I am a MAC user so no putty here just Terminal!

OK I am not 100% sure here but i think on MAC you can just open Terminal and type
ssh root@xxx.xxx.x.xx
and when asked for password type rasplex
xxx.xxx.x.xx being your pi's ip address
after this just follow the original steps
