RasPlex Support

I think it is because the PI is decoding the DTS track in software so starts to choke on the video (if the PI foundation can sort out licensing for hardware decoding the issue should go away). I have no idea why your Open Season will not play, maybe see if you can borrow a disc or download a test track from the internet (there should be some released under the creative commons license around that you could use).

As far as i know you get the version number at boot but it is not available anywhere else at present.

I ordered and received a new av receiver.  This one decodes DTS HD and DD True HD (its a Yamaha rx-v673).  However, I still have the same problem.  It seems the audio on the movie does not cause the buffering.  I can play vc-1 & mpeg 2 video with any audio track without buffering.  However, all mpeg 4 movies buffer, regardless of the audio track.

Am I the only one having this problem?

Hi, rasplex .35 is working great for me. Can anyone please tell me how to change the view to landscape, the same way all shows appear in the latest .35 video by dale? Mine is portrait with the list of shows/movies on the left and all the info and thumbnail on the right.

Thanks…

When you are in portrait view keep pressing right on your keyboard/remote and you should get a menu in the right corner. Here you can select the view you want. Took me a while to figure that out also  :)

Hi,

first of all great work on RasPlex, the website and cudos to providing installation support for three platforms. The first installation was very smooth but I ran into a couple of problems, all of which are documented below. I hope to get some helpful advice - and maybe this can serve someone else who is going through the process.

Here is what I did:

Installed RasPlex with OSX installer via Mountain Lion on 4GB SD card. This leaves me with a ca. 265MB partition on the SD card, once the process is done. I'm wondering why not the whole space is used and asked that question in a separate thread. Ctryan pointed to tools that are supposed to fix SD cards. I ran them, installed again (same issue); ran them, manually copied the data (no boot), used the command line tools to install (same issue).

So I decided to go back to square one and investigate via SSH what's going on. The install worked well, leaving me with this SD card configuration:

Filesystem                Size      Used Available Use% Mounted on
none                    149.3M    132.0K    149.1M   0% /dev
/dev/mmcblk0p1          249.7M    169.5M     80.3M  68% /flash
/dev/mmcblk0p2            1.2G     39.3M      1.1G   3% /storage
/dev/loop0              159.6M    159.6M         0 100% /
none                    150.7M         0    150.7M   0% /dev/shm

Okay, maybe 80MB is enough. But why does my RasPlex UI freeze after moments of browsing through the library. It appears that the CPU is still working:

Mem: 201736K used, 106980K free, 0K shrd, 44580K buff, 128040K cached
CPU: 52.9% usr 17.4% sys  0.0% nic 29.5% idle  0.0% io  0.0% irq  0.0% sirq
Load average: 0.82 1.08 1.25 2/74 8554

So I had a look into the logfile

cat /storage/.plexht/temp/plexhometheater.log

Not much to see here. Everything looks pretty normal. Dmesg showes some errors though. If I had to guess, I would say my SD card is bust - or maybe just the partition. I'm not giving up just yet. Will try the Windows installer next on two different SD cards and report back.

dmesg

[lots of more stuff in the attached full log…]

[   24.385018] mmcblk0: error -110 sending stop command, original cmd response 0x900, card status 0x900
[   36.363524] mmc0: final write to SD card still running
[   46.363813] mmc0: Timeout waiting for hardware interrupt - cmd12.
[   46.365008] mmcblk0: error -110 sending stop command, original cmd response 0x900, card status 0x900

Thoughts?

[EDIT 4/13 7:23pm ET]

I'm giving up. After trying it with one more SD card (the other two are toast) and the windows installer I run into the same problem. This time, it freezes even during the install screen. The only thing that's unique to my setup is the USB remote keyboard I'm using. Other than that, I tried it with class 10 SD and two standard SDs. All with the same result. Once I have to force a reboot, I always end up with the following message in the start screen:

Error in mount_storage: mount_common: Could not mount /dev/mmcblk0p2

Hey!

I just updated to 1.35 and the menu is so smooth now (256MB Model B)! Great job!

But: Now my WIFI is not working anymore! I enabled it in the settings but it won’t show any networks in the list!

Any ideas?

Hi, I'm on 1.35. I just logged in using my myplex account, and I can see that I'm connected to my plex server in the top right corner on the home screen. How am I now supposed to watch a movie? I don't have either "Movies" nor "Tv shows" on my home screen.

Dale and Co. Thanks so much - what a great implementation! I am a long-term Plex user and have OS X, Android and iOS clients - and now an RPi!

I received my Pi today and after much mucking about with various distro's, I loaded RasPlex.

Fantastic!

My setup is: Mac Mini running Plex Media Server, connected to 10/100 Hub, RPi running the latest iteration (0.1.35), connected to Samsung Series 5 via HDMI and powered from the TV's 'media' USB port, also connected to the 10/100 hub (no need for wifi... all the computer, stereo and TV are in the same place).

It worked flawlessly, right from turning on, including the CEC-interface allowing me to use my Samsung remote - apart from one issue - ff/rw on my remote, don't.

Is it something I need to configure, or will it be fixed at some point?

Its a known issue that should be fixed at some point.

So i have rasplex 0.1.35 running on my Pi.  There seems to be a few issues.  When i try to stream a video from the Plex Server, it starts to play for about 3-4 seconds, locks up and shows the RasPlex Beta Loading screen.  It then garbles the video on the screen and goes to black.  I can ssh into the box and reboot it, but it does the same thing every time.

That sounds exactly like some issues I was running into with various power adapters.  Try running the Pi via a powered USB hub, via a laptop, or with another power adapter.  For me, I went through 2 different adapters before trying my iPhone 5 adapter (and that seems to be working well).

I was using the USB port on a TiVo HD. I think it outputs 500mA. I switched to a 1A Samsung power supply from my Galaxy S3. Now when I try to play something it either freezes or goes black.

The S3 adapter was one that specifically did not work for me.

Hi

I'm using 0.1.35 and must say it works great!

One thing I have noticed (couldn't find it posted anywhere yet) is that the Watched/Unwatched status does not work at all for Shared Content.

If you choose "Unwatched Shows" it gives the list of shows that are unwatched by the owner, but the number of episodes it displays next to the Show name is the total number of episodes. When you then drill down into the show it then only shows the episodes that are unwatched by the owner.

Hopefully this can be fixed soon so I can use it at my parents place to connect to my server...

Keep up the great work!

I'm having a problem with a model B rasplex install of 1.35.  This issue also occurred with other versions of rasplex.  When the system boots up everything works fine.  if i switch to a different input on my receiver and then switch back to the input the rasplex is on I get no video output from the rasplex.  I have to restart the rasplex to get output again.

I'm assuming this has to do with the HDMI handshake.  Any ideas on how to address?

There is currently an issue with refreshing the onDeck fanouts on homescreen. It has been logged and i have started to track it.

I found the issue, but still need to find a proper way to fix this & dicuss that with Tobias.

Anyways, it should be fixed in the incoming releases.

You might want to check the config.txt options or the options in preferences/system/peripherals, there are a lot of different options there to handle HDMI / CEC handshakes.

Thoughts?

I am too having this problem, perhaps if the library on the Media Server is way too big. Every version I have installed, it always freezes and then get the above error.

My Rasplex reboots on any attempt to playback anything other than 4:3 Mpegs. If it's 720p H.264's it just crashes or reboots.  :(

I'm trying to install the codecs from raspberrypi.org for MPG2 and VC1. A clean Raspian build works fine, but on Rasplex, I am getting VCHI initialization failed with the vcgencmd codec_enabled MPG2 command.

My research on that error shows:

"VCHI initialization failed", you have the a mismatch between the firmware, the VC libraries, and the kernel driver.

Has anyone successfully added the codecs?

I have the same problem. Any help is appreciated!
