RasPlex Support

Thanks both of you for your answers.

When I got that right, the DTS passthrough was part of the new configuration I tried yesterday - but when I activated 'hdmi_force_edid_audio=1' my TV told my that it doesn't get a valid audio signal. According to this topic (http://openelec.tv/forum/68-audio/43659-how-to-play-dts-movies-with-raspberry-pi-without-stutters-enabling-passthrough) it seems that even the Passthrough isn't a valid option when using a Sony TV.

Please correct me if that was the wrong option or not the only option that would have to be changed for passthrough.

Besides: is there any chance to tell the Plex Server that it should always decode DTS before sending it to the RPi? I've tried to activate the option "Enable Media Link down-mixing of DTS audio" but that didn't have any effect unless there would have been a restart of the Server or the RPi necessary to make it work.

You can modify this /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/up_threshold and change the value from 95 to 60.  What this does is determine the max load on the CPU before turbo kicks in. Currently it waits for the CPU to be under 95% load before overclocking, but if you lower it to around 60% then it tends to be overclocked all the time without setting the warranty bit.

Just tried this together with force_turbo=1 but unfortunately it didn't help.

This is definitely possible as the PleXBMC plugin does this for PI users, the audio stream is transcoded.
This would help a lot of users.

Would it be possible to get the Analog Audio fixes that Dom the raspi org has contributed?

Raspbmc has fixes for both the audio pop noise when starting/stopping playback and for the automatic volume change (it goes to max volume) when starting playback.

It's a major annoyance for me and keeping me from using Rasplex to the fullest.

If Raspbmc can fix it, I guess it should be possible for Rasplex also?

I've looked over the forums and i'm not seeing anything like my problem. I have my plex server up and running just fine (can play on Windows boxes, DLNA to my Xbox360, and my Windows phone 8), but my rasplex never wants to list any of my libraries. I can never see the listing for Movies on the left scroll, queue, recommendations etc are all blank when you move over them. it shows my server in the upper right, and i'm logged into the myplex account successfully. I can successfully ssh to the box. i'm at a loss. :) any help is appreciated!

I have a issue where when i watch a movie near the end the move pause's and starts over and over again. This seems like a caching issue. Any thoughts?

I've two strange issues:

a) Sometimes rasplex stops booting - it just keeps staying at the openelec-screen and there is no activity on the Raspberry (and I cannot log in via ssh)

b) The thumbnails are all broken - even the background shows weird artifacts (and sometimes this coincides with connection-problems to the server - but from anonther client the server looks just fine)

Currently I can only "solve" this with writing the rasplex-image again to the SD-card.

I've currently only one type of SD-card, and the problems sow up on both of them. The cards are microSDHC-cards in an adapter.

I'll try to get a "normal" SD-card this week just be ensure that this problem is limited to the SDHC-cards...

Try disabling “require myplex authorization on local network” on your plex server.

I'm having some freezing issues with  my Pi with Rasplex running .37. I'm new to Pi and new to Plex but love both. It's a 512mb Pi with a Class 10 8gig SD card connected to a windows based PMS via ethernet (if any of that info helps).

What I do find though is every so often it'll stutter a bit, and freeze when playing a file. It doesn't seem to be specific but rather has frozen on SD content and HD content, from a variety of sources online. A reboot fixes it and the file plays fine, and later files play fine, but then at some random point it'll begin to stutter, and freeze and the process repeats. Occasionally a freeze will also be joined by a whole lot of VHS-style lines across the screen.

Would this be something the next update may fix and I should be patient or perhaps something I've done wrong? Hope you can help, and hope I've given enough info!

Update doesn't work

Hi!

I read that .37 is out. When I try to update it says: "already at 0.1.35" - it doesn't seem to recognize the update..

What can I do instead of a fresh SD install?

Best regards

Martin

You need to select "bleeding" version to get latest version

I have also noticed this "freezing" behavior. Also running .37 but over wifi

Hi everyone

In regards to freezing issues, I was experiencing this as well, did not matter what version of rasplex I was using it would freeze, sometimes during the setup wizard, sometimes after around 5 min in the menu's, sometimes during playback if I got that far. The freeze was random and when I had to shut the PI down The SD card would be corrupted and I would have to re-flash it.

I tried all suggestion, different SD cards, different power supplies, unplugging usb RF receiver for my mini keyboard but none of this solved. I don't have a wifi adapter and using wired, tested with and without my switch.

I did find a thread in regards to rasplex overclocking and settings set in the config.txt file.

The last line of this file (Found on the SD card and can be opened in notepad) I changed the numbers to the raspberry PI defaults for cpu etc and started up rasplex. No longer having any freezing issues, after caching it works like a dream. I have tested .35 and currently been using .37 for 7 days and have not turned off my PI and it hasn't frozen in that time. I also think the corruption issues I had may have also been due to the overclocking?

The settings I am using are for arm_freq | core_freq | sdram_freq | over_voltage are 700   |    250    |    400     |      0

I am using a 512b version of raspberry PI and I guess my PI does not like to be overclocked.

Anyway I thought I would pass on my experience and how it was resolved for me in case it may hekp others with freezing issues.

Awesome. Definitely worth a try. Now to figure out how to change the settings. Although I’m sure I’ve seen it mentioned in the forum posts here, so will check it out.

Thanks!

awesome. I did have that unchecked but I decided to verify the allowed networks field. I had my network as 192.168.42.0/24. I then researched it needs the whole mask of 255.255.255.0 instead. I did that and now I can see things! thanks! this little 256MB pi struggles but I can tweak from here

Try disabling "require myplex authorization on local network" on your plex server.

The pi is not happy with under 4.9 V if you overclock and most powersupply’s only delivers between 4.6 an 4.7V and that is the biggest reason for freezing and other problems. Find a supply delivering 5.1 og 5.2V and then almost all problems og away.

Great. Set the update to bleeding, at reboot it says

Checking KERNEL.md5 - ok

Checking SYSTEM.md5 - ok

Checking size: OK

updating kernel

updating system

error in check_update: mount_common: could not mount /flash/SYSTEM

System halted

Greetings.  I am running version 0.1.37, and I am running into issue with my Realtek wireless adapter.

Upon booting up the device after installing the wireless adapter, I was able to connect to the wireless network.  After a reboot though, I could not connect to the wireless network.  After numerous additional connection attempts, I have only been able to connect again once out of about a dozen times.

A review of the log files indicates that at first it cannot appear to find an appropriate driver, but then all of a sudden, it appears to find an appropriate driver and is able to operate successfully.

Logs attached.

Let me start by saying, THANK YOU for helping me get Plex up and running to its best potential yet!!!

That said, I do have one small problem that I hope is a newbie thing and something that can be resolved quite quickly with a few choice words:

I have a new 512 Model B Pi with a Class 10 SD card and running 1.37 over Wired Network, everything runs smooth as silk from first install and setup but after I select Shutdown when I unplug the Pi and plug it back in, the only options I see are "Channel Directory, Search, Preferences, Shutdown" there are no other folders listed.  If i check the settings through Preferences, all my settings are there but the MyPlex part is asking for login information again.  I have tried multiple restarts / multiple power adapters  the only resolution I have right now is to reflash and go through setup again.  I tried going through setup and leaving it on overnight to cache and then (without playing anything) restarting, same problem.  It seems as though my settings are not being saved.  Please help if you know anything I am doing wrong.

Thanks in advance and very grateful for this software, the wifey is finally happy with the PMS I built for this ;)
