RasPlex Support

I left one of my 1080i videos for about 5 mins and then found it running.  I couldn't push it up to 8mbps or 10mpbs but on 4mpbs it was ok.  Little sluggish.  Perhaps fixable with a faster SD card.

I've found that after a period of idle time, the iOS Plex remote no longer works and the only way to fix it is to reboot the RPi. Has anyone else experienced this behaviour? I'm running the latest release (.24)

I had similar issue:

- after a specific time the MCE remote stopped working

- the PI lost the network connection: you can see this on the screen because the PlexServer shares dissapear after a while

- it seems that the PI is frozen but the "only" problem is that you cannot reach it anymore over the network so practically it inot frozen just not possible to contact)

For me it turned out that the power supply is weak, I had tried an iPAD charger (2.1A) and no problem so far.

The network interface died actually, and sine that is somehow an USB ethernet adapter all the other USB peripherias dies (MCE remote, keyboard).

See my post: http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/35906-raspberry-pi/?p=359540

I found this in my log (in /var/log/messages or in /storage/.plexht/temp/plexhometheater.log cannot remember) which clealry indicated this error: "ERROR::dwc_otg_hcd_urb_enqueue:477: Not connected"

What I have done:

Connected rasplex/RPi to another monitor (hdmi -> dvi cable).

Tried with 0.1.20 to see if problem was related to my TV or receiver, but no, same problem.

Used 0.1.24. It is "better". It stayed alive for a minute or two. But then freezes and disconnects from the router (as before).

Another thing is new. The freeze kills the installation. When I reboot it stops with this message:

*** Error in mount storage: mount_common: coukd not mount /dev/mmcblk0p2 ***

[ 20.230615] system halted

It is possible I have thesame network issue as other has reported. I moved some big files on the wireless at the same time i tested 0.1.24, and the speed was very slow.

Some progress on my side. I changed the power adapter to an iPad adapter (2.1A, the old one was a Hama 1.0A), as suggested by another poster. The rasplex still freezes, but it was alive a good bit longer before it froze. But most important for me is that the RPi is still connected to the network. I will now have to figure out how to get the log (SSH is new for me).

I also installed wireshark, but the logs are a bit beyond my level of knowledge. I can see that the RPi sends out some bad TCP (from log: TCP Dup ACK).

Sounds like a codec issue to me.

Can you connect a keyboard, press "i", and say what codec it is using?

I tried that and pressing i does nothing..   Sometimes it will play 1080p without transcoding sometimes not   I have KLite codec packe installed so I know i have everthing on my computer needed.  Also on openelec xbmc i do not need transcoding for 1080p so Im sure its something you guys will fix at some point!     I will just stick to 720p for now as it plays flawless

I started rasplex (without network), changed to static IP, then plugged in the network.

Went out for a bit, and looked at it after around 40 minutes. It is still working. Start to navigate around a bit (in the configuration, without changeing anything); then freezes.

I have looked at the log file, and find it a bit strange. First there are 2 minutes of logs from before I connected the network. Then only 1 minute of logs from after I connected the netwok. Then nothing.

First off, thanks a lot for finally giving me a reason to buy a Raspberry, and I can't wait until Pi day is here :D

I just received my 512MB Pi, and threw the latest 0.1.24 version of RasPlex on it (class 10 SD card). I can get the basics going, but the UI is definitely not as responsive as I would have hoped. As soon as it is connected to the PMS it turns very slow. When it is disconnected from the PMS it's very responsive.

So I went looking further. I SSH'ed in and ran the 'top' command. When looking at idle CPU usage, it seems to be at 80-95% all the time. Is this normal behavior?

Also, i am trying to find where the log files and (possibly) advancedsettings.xml are, could you maybe help me out with that one?

Mine (0.1.24 on RBPi 512) is also running at 80-95% while doing nothing. The menus are kinda sluggish but playback seems to be fine.

logfile will be in /storage/.plexht/temp/plexhometheater.log.

advancesettings.xml will be in  /usr/share/xbmc/system/advancedsettings.xml

But due to openelec RO filesystem, as of now this file cannot be edited directly.

We're working on a debug build which would allow RW filesystem for tuning.

I finally got around to trying this out.  I tried the latest version 0.1.24, and it was very laggy.  Also, the 1080p video I tried would stutter.  I'm not sure if a faster sd card is needed because I tried this on a 2gb.  The latest openelec with plexbmc plugin runs a lot better for me, 1080p video plays, and I don't even overclock it as much as the default rasplex settings.  I'll be excited to try future versions out, because an official plex client would be great.

.1.24 is definately faster just have to let everything cache first .  Also Im on a wired connection so no prob with network speed.  Of course this isnt as fast as raspbmc or xbian, we are still on alpha can u imagine how awesome this will be we we hit a final release.?   Keep up the great work guys!!

Currently testing 0.1.24 I still have the network issue, will test different network setups and post my findings.

Generally though, .24 seems much quicker, at the start it was a bit sluggish, but it was first run so it would have been caching, once that was complete I found it was a great improvement over .19  Gui response is a lot quicker, posters seem to load faster too, videos loaded faster, just generally a bit more snappy.

There is a separate thread for the network error, if you're talking about slowing your network down

Mine (0.1.24 on RBPi 512) is also running at 80-95% while doing nothing. The menus are kinda sluggish but playback seems to be fine.

This is normal, even with XBMC. It slows down after a while.

Allright, thanks a lot for the input guys! I’ll keep it running for a bit and see waht the effect is

Now all I need to find out for now is a reliable way to shutdown/reboot when on wifi. Somehow that process never seems to finish correctly, causing me to have to unplug it too soon: SD corrupted. This raspberry / rasplex combo is definitely nice stuff to tinker with

this is cool, that someone has take this challenge up. :D

Is there something we can do for speeding up for the developer to reach the goal?

Contribute a little bit of Money or something else?

I have a plan to fix the UI responsiveness, but it'll take a few week.

Advancedsettings.xml is in ~/.plexht/userdata, just like it is on XBMC.

The CPU usage is normal, and you see that with XBMC on rpi too.

Donations and testers willing to put up with bugs and GUI lag are what we need : )

Definetely not a problem to look past some issues, as the Pi is (for now) mainly a secondary device in my household, so if there are any specifics to be tested give a shout :)

Just report any major (unreported) problems as descriptively as you can, explaining your exact setup. Giving make/model where appropriate. Also describe all RPi accessories, especially SD and power adapter.

THIS GOES FOR EVERYONE PLEASE : )

Not sure if it's just my set up or some features that have yet to be added:

Cannot get the PLEX iOS app to see RasPlex, are there any settings I need to change?

RasPlex doesn't load and fanart for watched TV Programs and Movies, only adding unwatched items?

Any Music (FLAC) and Video Channels (example: Giant Bomb) display a error when trying to play?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated :)

Otherwise keep up the good work!!
