I'm having an issue though where none of my videos will play. I had luck using OpenElec, so I'm not sure why RasPlex isn't working.. Could the speed of my SD card have anything to do with it?
Edit: Just wanted to say this was both with the x.27 and x.28 releases..
So I installed on a new Class 10 card (.27) and noticed a bit of GUI speedup, but have found now, even using the All option that I get sound but no picture on almost any video.
Just found RasPlex... looked a few months ago and found nothing... and now this far along... GREAT..
So here is the "help me" part... has anyone got this working with the stock Wi-Pi adapter? Purchased my pi with the Wi-Pi dongle and cannot get it working using wlan0 or wlan1... correct ssid.. correct password, both DHCP and Static attempted, router doesn't see any attempt.
Thoughts?
That's the wireless card I'm using. I had to use wlan0, correct SSID (case-sensitive), correct password (also case-sensitive), then reboot the RPi.
Also, on my buffering video issue, DTS was already disabled. :(

I am seeing the same thing on a new .28 install regardless of video format. pi model B
I also let everything cache overnight, GUI seems fine and responsive but still no luck on the video playback.
Library is fairly small, 13 TV series with average of 5 episodes, and 23 Movies, no other media content. I will do some other testing, maybe different display and hdmi cable, maybe sync or something is causing it to not display, currently set for 1080p 1920X1080 at 60hz. I will try changing resolutons as well. Playing mp4 shows the same thing, I will have to try a manual conversion as someone else had mentioned to see if that makes a difference even thought that should not be necessary.
Video Black Screen update.........changing the resolution down to 720P (1280X720) from 1080p did the trick and video will play properly.
Edit: well it worked once......after trying to play other video files I got the black screen again, and also trying to play the same file that was playing previously now gets the black screen as well. Not sure what is going on.
Edit 2: It seems specific to the type of media. I have better luck with mkv but still have one that will not play. After testing, one file has H.264 MPEG-4AVC part 10 one with resolution of 1280X696, will play fine, audio DTS. The other working file is same codec and 1920X808 resolution also with DTS audio....quality and playback performance were great. Only differences in mkv that is not working are resolution of 1280X720 and AC3 audio. I have tried many other file types mp4 and m4v without success even at much lower resolution and audio will always come through. I also have found an mp4 that will also play fine
And still testing.....after more testing it seems that one minute a file wil not be working and the next it will, all file types but I don't think it would be related to caching as my library is small and cached overnight. just trying to play the same files that were not working previously start to work.
So I have been able to play all video files except WTV files which are working fine through IOS client, I get black screen on all of these.
I've noticed the same since upgrading from .25, I find that I will get a black screen on certain videos and if I try them again they will play where as some videos will play all the time.
On a side note can we ditch this support thread in favour of individual threads for each problem as it will make it easier looking for updates and resolutions to individual problems? In time this thread might end up being huge.
Help with remote. Just received my Pi and power supply as of today. I have a wireless Logitech full size keyboard. The Pi boots fine I have the Plex UI but no action with the keyboard. I also have a Flirc I use as my remote for Plex client on my Windows 7 machine. No action with the Flirc either.
I'll keep poking around on Google for answers but if anybody has a quick solution please let me know.
Seems like its freezing up. It will boot, show my sections for a minute, display my server name top right corner but then my sections will disappear. My server will dissapear. I was able to use my ipad client to see the rasplex and try and use the ios remote but I only get to push a couple of buttons to maneuver before it just stops. On 1.27.
I don’t think it’s caching. There’s no activity on the Pi led’s.
Flirc has some beta software to use for the Pi. No GUI atm only command line. I got a portion of it to work but still need a keymap for it to recognize.
Why are you focusing all your time on auto update, and windows installer..? It only takes ten min to put on an sd card! How about working on issues with the player itself and channel support? I have donated quite abit in terms of money and would love to be able to not see a black screen when trying to watch a movie.
Don't think Im un appreciative , You guys have done great work in a short period of time and I love Rasplex Its just I think there are more important things to work on
RasPlex is currently a free-time project of not that many developers.
Finding and resolving bugs isn't that easy sometimes and mostly takes a lot of time too.
We wan't a usable and working system too - that's why we are working on RasPlex.
Bleeding releases and developer releases will have some issues most of the time - that's where the names are coming from.
Please just use the "more-stable" releases if you want a more solid system.
We are all working hard to get this project forwards and more usable and useful for everyone - but good things take some time.
Feel free to contribute to the project too. Just help answering support questions here or contribute some code...
Ok well, just installed latest stable version x.27. The unit is a 512 model, using class 10 memory card. Wow...the UI is slow. It's very laggy and takes almost 1-2 minutes to load collections. When playing a video I hear the video but all I see is a black screen.

So, I bought a new SD card class 10 of course installed 1.27 and on first boot it went further than before. I was able to go into a section and bring up all movies before it froze. On subsequent boots it basically did what it did before, come up with sections after a minute or two the sections disappear and it freezes. Never git as far as the very first boot with a new card. Do I have a dud Pi or are we looking at the need for more maturation on the part of the software?
I got two RPis (256Mb and 512Mb) and I just installed RasPlex on a 16GB Sandisk Extreme Pro SD-HC 1 (rated 95Mb/s and Class 10) and boot it on my 512 Mb RPi.
Well, I was really excited because I could instantly use my browser on my computer to "connect" to my RasPlex really easily and I tried the "Plex It!" bookmark trick on several video websites (youtube, dailymotion, vimeo).
Well, it didn't work on any of them "but" vimeo (the "javascript" telling me it couldn't find any video there).
When I then went to "Queue" on the RasPlex (on the Pi) I could see the several videos I wanted to watch, even with fanarts (so there is no network issue).
I was really eager to play them ! So I tried... and all of them -- whatever the resolution, from HD to SD -- after a while makes my RPi reboot (and I can confirm it's a really fast boot, less than 15s I could say...).
So... I'm gonna use another SD (same but 8 GB) on which I got openelec for now until this issue is fixed, but I already can tell that RasPlex (when it will be working) will be really awesome (especially since I got a Synology NAS and there is the plex media center app available on it).
Good work, keep it this way and we'll all enjoy a pure media center experience on our RPis with RasPlex !
