RasPlex Support

Hi

I am looking for a solution to my media streaming across my house.

I have 2 roku players, one in the Living Room and one in the Bed room with Plex client. One of my PC is running the plex media server and it does the job right. I want to replace the Plex media server using Raspberry pi, use a bittorrent client, attach a terabyte HDD, access it using a VNC or similar client and connect directly to the router so that internet is uninterrupted.

Will the RASPLEX work in such an arrangement ?

The raspberry PI in this case would replace one of your roku clients, not the PC server.

installed the newest version,,

BSOD is Gone!!!!  thanks so much

playback no problems at all  720 p plays in 2.5 sec 1080p in 6.5 sec  compare this to rasbmc   720p 6 sec 1080p  9 sec

no word about it failing. i was expected to see somehting looking lke plex when booting. What am I missing?

I deleted the contents on the SD card, re-ran the installer, and it made no changes to the card. Looks like it's not even working :/

Hos large is the SD? I think you need at least 2GB.

I'm finding that the latest version (30) will have a black screen at some point after it has been idle for many hours (e.g. overnight) and a reboot fixes the problem. Earlier versions (including 29) never did this.

So, I bought a new SD card class 10 of course installed 1.27 and on first boot it went further than before. I was able to go into a section and bring up all movies before it froze. On subsequent boots it basically did what it did before, come up with sections after a minute or two the sections disappear and it freezes. Never git as far as the very first boot with a new card. Do I have a dud Pi or are we looking at the need for more maturation on the part of the software?

Turns out I replaced the power supply and now both my wireless keyboard and the Flirc works. I can play 1080P just fine. Two observations so far: The UI is real pokey and MPGE2 an I'd still like to know if it's d WMV don't play. Audio only. I'd still like to know if Retroplex can be used and what the steps are to get this skin installed.

Try forcing transcoding to see if that makes a difference to your MPEG2 and WMV files.

There seems to no wat to change transcoding to anything other than direct.

Andreas just pushed some liveTV stuff today. It only works in confluence right now but we will port it to mediastream soon.

Though... I have absolutely no way to test it...

Im still having the problem watching 1080p movies only get sound no video.. I force transcode and then 1080p plays fine but i lose my surround sound dts only plays in stereo Im on the latest build1.jpg28.jpg3.jpg5.jpg4.jpg29.jpg

I had the same problem. But everything plays fine now on .30

Oh? 256 MB pi or 512?

I leave mine running all the time and i've never seen this.

The 512mb pi (the latest one), I've left version 31 on all day and it is still alive so perhaps it was just that version. Also switching between fanouts is almost instant, nice work!

Well, I've updated my RasPlex SD with 1.30 yesterday and I've noticed the Pi is no more rebooting when trying to view the videos of my queues (it used to reboot after like 10 seconds of trying).

Now, that's as if it was stuck trying to read the video but nothing happens... I can press "Return" and it will stop trying, but can't watch the videos...

I can read videos from a plugged USB hard drive though (I only could find my hdd files using the classic confluence skin, duno why)... but I wish I could use the queue feature (using the "Plex It" shortcut from my desktop computer to watch youtube videos and others).

I also noticed I could be stuck in the "search" screen with the "Return" of my TV remote (using CEC) that wouldn't work anymore... I had to reboot.

I'll try the next release tonight.

Regards,

Since I've updated rasplex from .28 to .30/31 the CEC-functionality stops working when I turn my LG-TV off and back on. Now I either have to restart the raspberry pi, use the iOS remote. When I trigger a restart of the CEC-plugin (change a setting in the plugin-dialog using the iOS-App) the CEC-functionality comes back to life.

Well done to the guys working on this. Its coming along really well.

The two issues that I have come across so far:

  1. I get stuck when trying to return from the search facility. The remote still works as I can delete and type letters but cannot return to home screen.

  2. Since upgrading to .30 when I load all movies it takes roughly 20 seconds which seems longer than before. I have gone through and cached each movie poster with no effect.

Thanks. Your work is much appreciated.
