RC1 update - TV shows stop after a few minutes

@ProblematicLlama:
According to a main developer of PHT (the main app in RasPlex), he has identified the precise PHT bug causing the problem, and has a fix ready for the next PHT release. All we can do now is to wait for that PHT release, and then for that fix to be ported into a new RasPlex release.

Sure, I just figured in the meantime it may be useful to have a workaround, which I'm going to try a bit later

(note: for many of us, the Android remote is the only sensible way we can actually control RasPlex..)

EDIT: OK that didn't work..

I kinda thought it would be a PHT problem.  I reported it in the Android forum because I was having this problem with both RasPlex and Linux PHT.  In the short term if you use Plex/web (yes I know sucks on a droid) it more or less works.

Well, the whole point of using an android app to cast media to RasPlex is because it may be more convenient to do so, especially as the Plex client on android can be far more responsive in browsing a Plex library than the native RasPlex GUI is. But the android web browsers are far less responsive, especially when using a complex script app like the Plex/Web client, so for most of my tests that has proven far LESS responsive than the native RasPlex GUI. (Depends on the processing power of the android unit too, of course.)

For my own use I stick with the native GUI, accessed using a tiny USB keyboard connected by a super-small RF dongle in one of the USB ports of the RPi. (That keyboard is smaller than a playstation gamepad, so just a little bulkier than a normal TV remote.) The other USB port is used for a USB3 stick holding the RasPlex install (my SDcard is used only for initial boot), which together with some overclock settings makes the native RasPlex GUI responsiveness quite acceptable. The initial delay when entering a large library section is still a bit irritating (appx 20-30 seconds for my Movies section of over 1250 movies), but navigation within the library list is quite fast with the new pre-caching methods.

Well for anyone who's only method of controlling it is through an app (like myself - I don't have a spare keyboard floating around unfortunately) you can use the XBMC remote to control it for now, as using the XMBC remote on its own doesn't cause this issue thankfully. I tend to use it quite a bit anyway as it gives you quite a lot of control over playing videos and is customisable in the same way the keyboard is.

Not quite as good for browsing through your media obviously but pretty good once it's started, and just fine if most of the stuff you watch is already on your deck.

I have been only having the issue when casting shows.  If you use the built in remote in the plex app and navigate on the screen like you would with a regular remote you shouldn't have the issue (I don't at least).

Still having this issue with RC3 and the latest plexpass PHT 9.9.10

Meant Plex media server

The issue discussed in this thread is already well known and a fix for it has been promised by Tobias Hieta, developer for the official PHT versions.
Once that fix has been released it will of course be ported to a RasPlex release as well.

Hello dlanor, I am just making sure that people know that recent updates to both PMS and Rasplex haven't got there yet and they should stick with what they have if they want to avoid this issue.

ps.thanks for all your input. I, for one, find it very considered and helpful.

This issue is an upstream one. i is still there in RC3 but upstream fixed it so it should be fixed in next release.

Did you update to RC4 ?
