Recently unable to “watch from the start” while recording

Server Version#:1.32.7.7621 windows
Player Version#:10.4.0.4843 Android TV
Aside from the above info I use an HDHomeRun

I often record sports and start watching them later while they are recording to avoid commercials but not get spoilers by the news or social media. I have had at lease 1 Plex server for over 10 years and recently ONLY on my Sony Bravia with Android TV (latest version) I have lost the ability to do this on any channel the error on the screen says:

There was an error while attempting to tune the selected channel. Please check your connection and try again.

I know the server has successfully select the channel because I can go to another device and start the program from the start.

My Sony Bravia is my main watching TV and want to continue to do this.

Can anyone offer any help or guidance?

I was able to successfully reproduce the issue, and I can confirm the issue I filed is being looked at. Once I have confirmation I will give you feedback as to when it will be fixed.

Breaking features that were previously working when updating an app should never happen. This update should have been tested better before releasing to the public.

Anything I can help with? Need logs or something? Since you were able to reproduce the issue will you update this thread with progress?

When you say “should be fixed in latest beta” - do you mean server or client?

Upgrading my server (linux) to 1.32.7.7621 is what broke this for me. The latest beta version is 1.32.8.7639 which is over a month old - does that include a change that will help?

That’s a good point. This is NOT a server issue in my case. This is only affecting one app on one type of device for me. Only on the Android TV app.

It will be fixed in 10.5.0.4973 which should start rolling out of beta from tomorrow. And yes this was related to an Android issue, not a server issue.

I’ve been having this issue for about a month or more. Not sure when it started. Same situation as OP, recording football and trying to start watching after an hour or so. Can reproduce with recording other things but generally don’t start watching them while recording still in progress. Just narrowed it down to Android TV tonight on Sony Bravia OLED and also Google Chromecast. Works fine on Roku and Fire Sticks. Glad to hear this sounds like it should be fixed soon.
Will the new version automatically install on my tv or will I need to initiate it?

Where do I find the beta version?

Can confirm Android 10.5.0.4996 on Nvidia Shield, plus Media Server 1.32.8.7639 on Debian does resolve the issue for me. I upgraded the server before re-testing, and my Shield upgrades on it’s own (I don’t know my previous client version) so can’t say for sure which fixed it, but this combo works. Thanks!
