Recoding schedule disappears for no reason (2 episodes in one day issue)

Same here, no change tonight only one show recorded…

Two episodes of Coronation Street screened, but only first one records. I have the record setting set to “New and Repeat Airings”. Both the 7.30 and 8.30 screenings are listed in the future Recording Schedule.

Yes Coronation street second episode still disappearing from the recording. It does not correctly identify new Uairingseither so has to be set to new and repeat airings for it to pick them up at all

This (due to Coronation Street) and the Grid EPG are the only remaining issues that stop me from being able to go all-in on the Plex DVR as a solution (for my wife if I’m honest).

Is there any update on a solution to this?

Same here. Even a simple tickbox to enable recordings to use the recorded time as part of the filename would seemingly be a temporary workaround. I think most of us could deal with too many recordings rather than too few. While a proper solution is worked on

As a sidenote, I also have EyeTV which uses the gracenote epg too. It has never had problems like this so it’s obviously fixable. You ‘build’ a filter to narrow down the episodes you want to record. It doesn’t even need to know the episode number.

So I have the title as “Coronation Street”, the start time as a range of from-to (sometimes repeats are on earlier in the day so we basically want to record any episodes in the evenings) and then narrow it by channel so the ‘+1’ episodes don’t get recorded.

Here’s a screenshot:

And these are the fields you can filter on:

It would be really nice to see something with this sort of flexibility in Plex.

I really love the LiveTV in plex. It’s great having it all in one place. Having the grid EPG and the recording fixed would make it really usable

Be nice to get an official update, last one was 14th Feb, over a month ago

Thank you for your input. As I mentioned before this is actively being worked on

Looking for a couple of users to confirm the fix for this - I have a pre-release build I can make available
Let me know platform / OS

I didn’t notice this until now :frowning: . I’ve installed the new Plex Media Server 1.12.2.4929. If there’s anything else I can test, please let me know.

Yes - the fix is now out on Beta - in 1.12.2.4929

See http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1645660/#Comment_1645660

  • (DVR) More fixes around recording multiple airings of a show on the same day (#6668)

This fixes the problem where only one episode was recorded. There remains an issue with episode identification in the library and that is because of the lack of the detail in the Gracenote data. The airing time is used in this fix to label the episodes differently.

Thanks to @“Kings Media” for the additional user testing for this fix

I installed beta 1.12.2.4929… the bug isn’t fixed. Sadly only part 1 of this evening Coronation Street recorded. Part 2 didn’t record :frowning:

Same for me also…

Both recorded for me but within plex it shows as one episode that has 2 recordings. So that’s an improvement on before.

The files on the disk are named:

Coronation Street (1960) - 2018-04-04 00 00 00 - Episode 04-04.ts Part 1 from 7.30pm
Coronation Street (1960) - 2018-04-04 00 00 00 - Episode 04-04 (copy 1).ts Part 2 from 8.30pm

Also within plex media player, it shows both episodes recorded.

I was expecting the episode name to contain the start time i.e.
Coronation Street (1960) - 2018-04-04 19 30 00 - Episode 04-04.ts
Coronation Street (1960) - 2018-04-04 20 30 00 - Episode 04-04.ts

If I go in to the recording within plex media player, I see it has picked up that it is S59 E81 so I added that to the first episode and the second episode I added S59 82 by manually renaming them. Not ideal but at least I can watch them.

So my renamed files are:

Coronation Street (1960) - 2018-04-04 00 00 00 - Episode 04-04 S58 E81.ts
Coronation Street (1960) - 2018-04-04 00 00 00 - Episode 04-04 S58 E82.ts

I’m also running Version 1.12.2.4929

It could be a different reason for not recording the 2nd airing. Please could you provide logs covering time from just before the scheduled recording and covering the time of the airing and afterwards when it was found to be missing

The fix in 1.12.2.4929 was specifically tested and confirmed by development team and users that it did record all airings on the day

Please include with the logs details of what happened and times and what episodes/shows

Thanks

I’m also running Version 1.12.2.4929

That means it is working and we are no longer losing recordings. The identification issue is known about and was mentioned in my earlier note

Yay, big step forwards.
I’ve now had time to look into this in more detail.
I found two Wednesday (4th April 2018) Corrie recordings on the disk.
The identity issue mentioned by sa2000 means that Plex thinks it only has the first recording.
I edited the disk file name of the first recording to “Coronation Street s59e81 (1960)” and the second recording file name to “Coronation Street s59e82 (1960)”.
This fixed it in Plex, which now lists, and I can play, both recordings.
So, really pleased, this is good progress. Hopefully a resolution to the identity issue will soon be found too so manual file renaming will no longer be required.

“The airing time is used in this fix to label the episodes differently”

The airing time was not used though from what I can see? I also had 2 files now in the folder but the second one had (copy 1) in the name and neither had the correct airing time? Both files have 00 for the airing time.

If it did have the airing time then would Plex still have the identification issue? Is the identification issue actively being worked on?

Thanks

This is how mine show up on the disk, inside Plex they are grouped as one episode
I did delete the DVR and re add it a couple of days ago, not sure if that made a difference

i’ll try that with mine and see if it names them like that.

Do you have yours set to “New Airings Only” or “New and Repeat Airings” ?

I found that Corrie only seems to appear in the Plex recording schedule if “New and Repeat Airings” is selected when setting up the recording. If I select “New Airings Only” its not shown in the upcoming recording schedule.
