In the guide for future recordings it shows both the first and second episode to be recorded
However, I’m pretty sure that my HD home run is being used during the second recording time frame. But when checking the recording, only the first episode is shown.
I’ve only just recently started dabbling with Plex DVR… and loving it so far… except for this inability to record both of the Coronation Street episodes (ITV1) when they occur on the same day. Here’s an example test I did at end of last week…
On Thursday 10th August I set up the Plex DVR to perform series record of Coronation Street. I’m using HD Homerun dual tuner, and most current Plex on my Mac Mini. My recording settings were set to “new and repeat” and all other settings left at default values. The next scheduled Corrie broadcast was:
Episode 160 broadcast as part 1 on Friday 11th August 19:30-20:00, and
Episode 161 broadcast as part 2 on Friday 11th August 20:30-21:00.
On 15th August I checked the result, which was:
Only the Part 1 episode was recorded.
It’s recorded to file name… “Coronation Street (1960) - 2017-08-11 00 00 00 - Episode 08-11.ts”. The file indicates a date modified as “11 Aug 2017, 20:00”.
Strangely, however, Plex seems to think it recorded the second episode because in the Plex library screen it’s displayed as “Episode 161 Fri Aug 11 2017 Part 2”.
Please can you let me know if there’s an update on resolution of this issue, or whether there are alternative recording setting I can use to work around it. Thanks.

OK got it - the Originally Available Date is different for the two and that is part of the Episode identification.
Thanks
This issue is still going on and clearly affects a reasonable number of shows (and users).
It’s been with us since the first beta and the DVR code is now released. Could we have an update Plex?
FWIW I’ve been reporting the Coronation Street issues to grace note directly.
Plex-Folk: I appreciate that this really does look like faulty guide data but your product is only ever going to be as good as the data it uses so I think you really ought to step up here.

The problem is being looked into at the moment.
Thanks for confirming @sa2000 - is there anything more we can do to assist / accelerate progress?
I’m sure I’m not the only person having to explain to my partner why bits of Corrie are missing!
I have 3 episodes of the news airing in one day (6AM, 6PM, 1130PM) and plex refuses to even display any time other than the first airing that day. Alone that is bothersome as its clear plex will miss many episodes of other shows. Thing is after the first has played (maybe 632AM, I checked around 530PM) it displays the 6PM airing and allows you to schedule to record it.
So whats happening to me is after the first airing is aired, then the next airing shows up, and once thats aired the 3rd airing of the day pops up. Plex will not schedule these additional airings even with record new and repeat airings enabled, or specifying the exact time you want recorded. To complicate this the synopsis never changes for them, so I’m sure plex believes its the exact same episodes re-airing throughout the day even though they are different lengths (1130PM is identical to the next days 6AM broadcast).
Current solution is to manually log into my server before the airing to record it, or continue using my existing PVR software which has simple timeslot scheduling that hasn’t failed me in years. Seeing as this bug is months old I am not holding my breath. Definitely can’t recommend plex DVR to anyone in this state.
Same issue here as well, on other threads it’s confirmed it’s due to the EPG data showing the same episode number and has been logged as a gracenote issue. Hope Plex can fix this…
The Plex app is clearly aware that there are two episodes scheduled in that day, because if you tap on Advanced settings in the Record window it allows you to pick which episode you want to record in the Limit To Airing Time drop down which lists the times of both episodes. So if the Plex app is clever enough to know the times of both the episodes then why can’t we select to record “both” in the Limit To Airing Time drop down list?
Today’s Beta Release 1.11.3.4793 has changes to address this and will hopefully resolve most of the cases. (I say this reservedly because the information available for multiple episodes may not actually have identifiable differences.)
