Recorded TV won't play in Chrome web app

Server running on Synology 918+ NAS
Hi all,
Web app on Chrome (Windows 10) plays music, photos and videos fine but won’t play recorded TV files from NAS share. Live TV (from network HD Homerun tuner) does play albeit with bad audio sync issues.

Web app on Edge works fine with same server and files. Chrome used to work before I upgraded to new server.

Any ideas?

I switched from Chrome to Plex media player. I had problems with playback also (Vbox DVR), much better with player. Also had issues with fullscreen mode after latest Chrome update.

The usual complication, most TV and cable are mpeg2 and all browsers are h.264. You NAS doesn’t have the CPU power to keep up and do it’s intended function. Even if you have HW transcoding turned on the minute subtitles come into play it goes sideways.

Adding the mpeg2 codec from the windows store and Plex Media Player (not the winapp) will give the best results.

Thanks but Edge browser works perfectly and Chrome browser used to work with same setup. Something has changed in upgrade of server. When I try to play recorded TV with Chrome all I get is the spinning wheel. Transcoding is working fine to other devices, e.g. Apple TV.

I’ll look at codecs and try the Plex Media Player.
